Can Carnival gift cards purchased from Verizon be used once on board to pay the gratuities? I know they are applied to your on board sign and sail account, but does Carnival allow them to cover the gratuities if charged to the cabin?

thanks!

How do you apply gift cards to your account? Guest services? Or can you do it before you board?

You can only do it onboard. Just give it to GS and ask them to add to your s&s account. Or find a kiosk and do it yourself. I haven't done this, but shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Ok, I just have to know...are these "Carnival" gift cards you purchased using Verizon or are they actually Verizon gift cards? (Just wondering if I have been missing something). :)

They are actually Carnival gift cards. My grocery store sells them. I think many grocery stores, Targets, etc. have an aisle endcap display that sells gift cards to various places - restaurants, toy stores, iTunes, Home Depot, etc. Look there.

They are Carnival gift cards purchased through Verizon, there is no difference from the ones you would get from Carnival direct or any grocery store-except the 10% discount. It's really a great deal. I bought a few a couple months ago and they are sitting waiting for our cruise in a few weeks. Already verified their balance on the Carnival website and they are exactly as they are supposed to be.

Yea, I know about those. I did that with our Pride cruise last year and got free gas for 3 months doing it that way plus got a percentage back for using the cc I did. :) I was referring to using Verizon.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure. I purchased the Carnival gift cards using my verizon points and had my entire Breeze cruise paid for by the time I booked. :p I know these only come up every so often on Verizon, so I thought maybe there was another deal on there to just buy "Verizon" gift cards that could be used onboard, something like a cc or cash card to be applied. Thanks for the info I just didn't want to miss out on any other deals or tricks, since I've learned several ways to save money on here. :)

You do not have to wait until guest services or the kiosk to apply your gift cards. Simply give them the representative in the terminal who is checking you in and they will apply them to your account. We did not have to give a credit card number when boarding and went on as a cash sign and sail account. I cashed out any money left at the end through the casino and left a zero balance on the account after all expenses and gratuities. That way I didn't have to worry about any pesky erroneous towel, blanket, or mini-bar charges. Worked great.

You can actually give your gift cards to the person in port at the terminal when checking in and they can apply them to your account. We did this last April with no issues. :)

You can use them to apply to any onboard charges -gratuities, drinks, casino, excursions, bingo...anything charged to your Sail and Sign.

That's not an option at every terminal.

Do you know which terminals do not accept them at check in? When we did ours in Baltimore last year the rep told us they had all switched to the "new" system and was now able to do this now.

Anyone know if Miami accepts them at the terminal? If they don't, can you just tell the rep at the counter that you will apply once onboard at CS or kiosk and that's all they will need? Or will they still expect you to use a card just in case?

Thanks Mitsugirly, that's great to know - I was dreading having to wait on line at GS on the first day to apply them.
