Fizzlewicket’s Adventure on Oasis of the Seas

Recommended Posts

I know what you are thinking ... Hey Fizz, you ate at Izumi so where is all the cruise food porn like you had in your Liberty tour/review?

Well, to be completely honest, the missed flight, devestating charges to my poor innocent charge card, as well as the overwhelming stress and anxiety of a loss passport and all that almost made me want to not do this tour/review at all. It took about three whole days to just start to get into that mood that everything was hunky dory (translation = just fine). As the cruise rolled on and I experienced everything the Oasis had to offer, the more excited I become in sharing this experience with everyone.

You getting hungry? I know I am!

So, let us quickly go over the different dining rooms and then head over to the Boardwalk and grab a hot dog?

Well, you know The Grand is on deck 4. If we go to deck 5, you find Silk at the end of the Royal Promenade.

So we have The Grande and Silk. I was racking my brain for that last one. I went up to deck 6. Nope, it was not there. What was missing? So by as my wife and I were scouring the entire ship looing for Small Wonders on Thursday's sea day, we headed down to deck 3. And there it was, American Icon Grill.

If you curious to see what is on the menu for that day, do not forget to use the digital touch screen next to the dining room enterances.

And right before you exit the casino and enter in to the MDR areas, there is a floor to ceiling art display. It's very impressive if you ask me.

Going forward from the art display, we find ourselves at The Grand dining room.

And as you can see right down the hall to the right of the enterance is Izumi.

We had a fantastic and very entertaining meal at the hibachi portion of Izumi on the second night. I ordered the lobster and steak and my wife ordered the chicken and steak. Both were very delicious. And the fried rice was extremely good. I normally am not a fan of fried rice or rice in general but I ate to heaping bowels here. And for dessert, I cannot recommend enough the Assorted Mochi Ice Creams. One was Mango flavor, another was Green Tea flavor and finally one was Strawberry. The Mango one was good. The Green Tea one was ... well ... strange but edible. But the strawberry one was pure deliciousness. I would have been able, I would have got all of them in Strawberry flavor. Others at our table, those who were enjoying this dessert also agreed about Strawberry being simply the best.

Kudos to our Chef for the smiles, laugher, and a most excellent meal.

Just a note, at our 530pm reservation on the night we were there, there were 2 seats open at our table and about 4 seats open at the other table, so there might be a possiblity of grabbing some seats without a reservation.

Hey, thats Jo'el, we had him a couple weeks before. He was great, plus probably the best meal we had. :D

So far my plan is to cover a neighborhood every day or so with the Boardwalk next then Central Park. After that I will heading to the pool and sports deck and then off to the Solarium. And finally the port destinations and the after cruise blizzard mini vacation. Trust me, while I enjoy documenting the ship and presenting my cruise experience, I don't want to be working I this for another month.

If anything, I will be making a big push next weekend to make sure everything is finished up.

Looking forward to the rest -- thanks for the wonderful pics and great sense of humor! Your past review of the Liberty is one of the reasons we are so excited to cruise on that ship...keep those reviews coming! (And you'll have to keep cruising to do it. Darn. ;))

I've enjoyed your review and especially the photos.

We board the Oasis in a few weeks for the 7th time and your photos make us eager to see her again.

Thanks

Hi you two! :)

We will welcome Oasis to our home port by going aboard on 1/22/17. Are you on that one?

Leaving Friday for a 10 night on Serenade.

Hope to sail with you again soon!

They were never out of order during our cruise and the line at its worst was only 3-4 deep and went very quickly. Sometimes, if one machine was out of a certain flavor, the other would have it. I never had a problem oversaturating my system with Coke Zero. All in all, easy cheesy lemon squeezy.

Thanks for posting the above pic. Some of the very first of these Freestyle machines were used here in Columbus, Ohio a few years ago. When I used them for the first time on My 2013 Allure cruise there were a lot of problems with keeping them filled and running. I'm the first to admit, that was contrary to most reviews so I accepted that as a bad week. I'm glad to hear you found them pretty reliable as I will be back on Oasis soon. This photo however shows me that Royal has finally updated the software that runs these machines to the newer version which I think is an improvement. I find people find what they want a little easier with this menu than the old one. Oh, assuming Oasis is the same as Allure, there is also one machine in the Wipeout Cafe and possibly the Kids club area.

What other type of entertainment did they have on the Royal Promenade? Well, that is a very good question.

I will give you a few samples.

Join a Flash Mob!

I too never tire or fatigue of reviews of the same ships over and over. One reason, things change, and another reason, to see if somethings haven't changed. I figure Royal will eventually do away with the flash mob thing, but my wife loves it, glad to see its still there. Add in, your photo of the Freestyle machines, I'm learning and verifying things. Very enjoyable way to spend my lunch hour.

I am glad everyone is enjoying the tour so far. I just finished the narrative for The Boardwalk and Central Park ... Now comes the really hard part, the sorting through 800 pictures to find the best ones to post.

I will attempt to have at least The Boardwalk finished tonight and push on as far as I can go of Central Park before my head hits my desk from sleep deprivation.

We have two different Back2Back2Backs booked for the Harmony and won't be able to be with you. Someday, someday, we our cruise paths will cross again.
