We are from Canada and will be on the feb 22 sailing of the RCCL IOTS from Ft L. My question is is it better for me to pre buy the 5 day 1 device WiFi package or wait till we board the ship and sign up . Cruised on RCCL 1 time before in 2008 . I also called and added $200 USD to my OBC account for $220 Canadian dollars. However I booked the cruise in Canadian funds and all my shore excursions and stuff come up in a Canadian funds . Not sure how that will work when on board . Thanks in advance for any info !! Dale

Once your on board , all purchases will be in USD . Pre buy your internet in Canadian funds . If they give bonus minutes , there usually more if you buy before boarding.

If you're a Captains Club member that has a CC internet discount then buy on board. You won't get it if you buy before hand. That is unless things have changed since last September.

How do you become a captains club member.?

It's not Captains club as that is Celebrity. If you have sailed before you can join Royal's Crown & Anchor club and as a gold member you will get a discount on the Internet package but only if you purchase the package on board.

As stated, all purchases on board will be in USD, so if you can, I'd purchase enough OBC in advance to cover all of your expected purchases -- gratuities (if not already prepaid), beverages / drink packages, internet, shore excursions (unless purchasing private on the pier), souvenirs, etc.

Also, if you don't need internet that first day, you can save a day's expenses by waiting until the second day. Much of the first day you're still in port and able to use your regular cellular data plan (provided you have coverage in the USA) until you get out of the port.

And you can only get your C&A discount on the internet package if purchased on board.
