Clarea Posted February 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) Is it possible to get out to the helipad area on Oasis OTS? Yes, but only by invitation. Invitations are usually given to suite guests and higher level C&A members for a port sailaway. Edited February 4, 2016 by clarea

Hobiecat01 Posted February 4, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 4, 2016 A few years ago we attended an unofficial Star Gazing "tour" on the Oasis lead by the First Officer. He led the group out on the helipad and did a great job pointing out stars, planets and constellations. Other than that there was no access for the general public. Powersboyee2 Posted February 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2016 If you do the behind the scenes tour they will also take you out there in most cases. Pending weather obviously. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
TBone2K Posted February 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2016 Not what you asked, but just FYI it is possible to go out on the helipad on your own on other classes of ship.

Yes, for the classes that have them (Voyager, Radiance, and Freedom). It's only the Oasis class where you can't access it on your own.

garnetpalmetto Posted February 4, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2016 I believe Quantum class as well you have no access to helipad Correct - honestly I was unaware there *was* a helipad on the Quantum class ships until just now when I looked at an overhead view. DiamondSuiteCruiser Posted February 4, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 4, 2016 If you get invited, make sure you have closed toe shoes. They weren't allowing sandals.
DanJ Posted February 4, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 4, 2016 That was not the case on Oasis last May. Nor last week either. Granted, we were running full tilt because of a medical emergency.

TBone2K Posted February 5, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 5, 2016 I wonder why you aren't allowed on Oasis class? If was anything to do with security then you wouldn't be allowed on any ship. It's not any harder to get to, either... Down to the end of the hall and out the door. I think it was on Explorer that I "discovered" the helipad by accident... Decided to see where a particular door went and ended up on the helipad.

When we were on an Oasis class sailaway party in Labadee an officer told me its to do with the aerodynamics of the front of the ship. I had asked him why we weren't allowed on the Helipad here but on Indy we were. He waved his hand upwards and said look at the shape....not possible here. It was outside promenade with a stair leading to the heli pad. Of course back then i tried to do imitation to TiTanic. Yes , standing on the rail with my hand out. of course, my friend hold me in case i lose my balance.
mdchachi Posted February 22, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) Yes, but only by invitation. Invitations are usually given to suite guests and higher level C&A members for a port sailaway. I noticed that some events take place there. Specifically "7:45am Yoga on the Helipad" on at-sea days. But this activity is not free. Edited February 22, 2016 by mdchachi
