bigdavefc Posted February 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2016 Hi guys...I was wondering if you can help me please?. My mother in law mentioned tonight that she heard one of the TV channels (she thought it was 7) was looking for people who were on board the Explorer of the seas cruise to nz that left Sydney on 2nd December 2015 and they were looking for people to be part of a lawsuit. Has anyone heard anything about this and is it really a thing? I haven't been able to find out any other details.

Interesting that another cruise line is facing serious problems - could you share with us what was the problems with that ship to that specific cruise? See the thread about the previous Carnival Class Action (next court day end of Feb 2016 - but probably will be settled ) here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/showthread.php?t=2304822 And a quick internet search leads to this Melbourne Law Firm which was handling the Carnival matter - they may well be the same dealing with the Explorer class action . Rare MicCanberra Posted February 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2016 By no means am I sticking up for the cruise lines here but I think the rise of all these class actions around cruises will not save me any money or make my cruise experience any better in the long run. I think it is a money grab by a select few that then rope in others to help justify their cause.:(
Kiwi_cruiser Posted February 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2016 I have not head about any class action lawsuit about the Explorer of the seas, I have only head there might be one to do with the Carnival Spirit.

Hazydavo Posted February 14, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) Haven't heard anything myself about Explorer, not sure what one would/could sue for on that cruise...oh yeah maybe the reported OUTBREAK of noro and the massive wave that crashed over the top of deck 10  Edited February 14, 2016 by Hazydavo
spudstrawb Posted February 14, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 14, 2016 ...oh yeah maybe the reported OUTBREAK of noro  This. We were on the next cruise. The reality is that the noro outbreak will be more the fault of ignorant/careless/lazy passengers than a fault of the cruiseline. I hope the class action fails. I can't see these things getting to court, but then that may be the objective for them. Just get a pay off or some FCC.:(
Bitter Bulldog Posted February 15, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I was the Christmas cruise & not a single noro case. So they did a good job cleaning up! Also helped that the captain told us to wash our hands, wash our hands, & WASH OUR HANDS about 5,000 times. So have to agree. The lines will also have to make a commercial decision, between potential bad publicity, the costs that will go to the lawyers (at least some Good will come from it all), and the amount of time that senior staff will be iccupied as against wanting to prove they did nothing wrong. Then the insurers will have their 2 cents worth to put in to any decision.

I like the ship but think that the bar areas are far too small for Aussie cruises (especially short ones). I am so happy with having access to the Diamond lounge to escape the madness to get a drink. Bitter Bulldog Posted February 15, 2016 #19 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I always have good luck with bar crowds - I think because I've got 2 young kids we are at everything early & not out past 9 or so. Plus. Now know all the tricks - like ducking down to the casino to get drinks etc :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 24-Dec-2015Explorer Of The Seas13nt South Pacific - New Zealand Cruise 22-Jan-2015 Voyager Of The Seas3 Night Sampler Cruise 10-Jan-2014 Voyager Of The Seas3 Night Sampler Cruise 03-Feb-2012 Rhapsody Of The Seas 3 Night Sampler Cruise

Look forward to Rosie's review ahead of our Explorer adventure in 44 days (who's counting :) ) Yes also looking forward to first 'real' use of DL. We were D for the Voyager 3N we did for Mum's 80th with you guys - a YEAR ago  , but as we were a group of 10, didn't really get use of the DL, just a few free drinks on the card! Happy cruising! Yes, this is one issue when travelling with family or friends who do not have the same status and therefore cannot get into the lounge. That is when the drinks loaded onto the card are great. One of the best things about the lounge is that it is open all day and various types of nibblies are put out even though the drinks are only on between 5 pm and 8.30 pm.:D
Mothballs Posted February 16, 2016 #25 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I just got off Explorer after a 3 day cruise and there were a LOT of complaints about the bar service to the extent that quite a few people cancelled their drink packages.
