Hi Everyone, we are on a 10 day Westren Caribbean cruise in March. I purchased a vow renewal for my DH and myself. I'm just wondering if any of you lovely people have done that and what your thoughts were? Is is classy or cheesy? Just want to make sure the extra money is worth it. Thanks!

My dh and I renewed our vows on the Royal in 1/15. I felt that it was a classy and special event. I received a bouquet and my husband a boutonniere. The ceremony was video taped and still photos were taken. The captain did a nice job with the ceremony and posed for photos with us and our family after the ceremony. The photographer then took us to the piazza to take take more photos. I think you will be pleased.

  • 7 months later...

We did a renewal package 10 or 15 years ago. We did it for the perks of the package. We still have the champagne flutes and our photo!

It was just us in the ceremony

The captain and two other people were there to help. I personally thought it was cheesy but the bouquet and boutonnière were nice. The photographer took lots of photos. I think if we had more family and friends there it would have been nicer. Princess did a good job.

Wonderful Vow Renewal Ceremony on the Regal 3/1-3/8

Just wanted to share the lovely vow renewal ceremony we had on our cruise. I wasn't really planning this - just happened to come across the option to "order" it when scrolling through the Princess website a few weeks before our cruise. We had thought of doing it a couple of years ago but the $$$ to do it with all our family included seemed to get out of hand. But this appeared very doable and I booked it - without telling my DH.

Well, we had barely begun unpacking after embarking at FLL and Maria was on the phone helping me to arrange all the details. We set it up for the first sea day - which also turned out to be our actual anniversary. I was delighted. So I then had to tell my husband what was up and why I was so desperate for him to pack his tux! He was game and immediately went to book the Crown Grill for that evening to continue the anniversary celebration.

The ceremony was terrific. Maria took care of everything -- all we had to do was show up at the chapel at the appointed time. She met every expectation -- even more so with the bouquet -- more than a dozen white roses. I was so unhappy that I had to leave it on board when we docked back in FLL.

The real treat was Capt. Perrin. He has the singular ability to make one feel so special -- like you are the only folks on the ship. He spent so much time just talking with us that we felt like we'd made a friend on board! (and we are now booked next year on the Regal in Europe and hope to bump into him again and let him know how special he made our ceremony.)

The vow ceremony that was provided by Princess (we didn't do our own vows the first time either) was really wonderful. I think that we old folks actually took the vows more to heart this time as it was just us and the captain (and Maria, of course, with the photographer)....... Princess not only provided everything that was "ordered" within the package, they did it with grace and elegance. And our steward Lawrence decorated our cabin with balloons, chocolates, and even a little "anniversary animal."

The cruise itself was also terrific. We relaxed completely. Thanks to you guys on CC, I knew to book on the bump out so we'd have our extended balcony which we barely left during the week. Three novels read! Not only that, while getting ready for dinner we caught up on all the movies we had missed. Movies on demand in the stateroom was so great. Yeah, the lack of a center stairway was a hassle sometimes (I do like to descend that way when I can), and there were a few choppy seas ...... but wow, I so hated getting off in FLL and returning to "normal".

It is done individually. The only problem is there is no one to share it with you.

Great thanks...we have our best friends traveling with us so they will be there to expierience it with us. Looking forward to it and hear that it is lovely and hope that we are individual...princess site says group ceremony is at ships choice...lets hope not many want to do it in Alaska..:D

I have no idea what my original vows were! We were doing our own vows and I... um... spaced out on it and didn't write anything so I did it off the cuff. D'Oh! Seems to have been OK though as that was back in 1972 and we're still married.

It was a different time back then... ;)

Ours was 10 years ago (our 25th) and Princess was amazing. We met with the event coordinator once we boarded. I think she was even more excited than I was. She had the bit of info I had provided when I booked the package and had all kinds of ideas. She had planned it for our first formal night and said she thought it would be special as the whole ship would be dress up. She had invitations for us to have delivered to friends on board.

On the night of, they had a bouquet for me and a boutineer for my husband. We also had champagne flutes for toasting. The Captain did the ceremony which took about 10 minutes. He asked if he could do a personal reading which was beautiful and we renewed our vows.

Our friends as well as one of the photographers took pics. It was very special, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I can imagine how excited your DH was on your surprise when he did not hesitate to bring his tux.

Thanks for sharing.

We renewed our vows last month aboard Royal Princess for our 30th anniversary.

Just me and DW and what a day we had. It was planned for the formal night so Captain Bob Oliver was already dressed in his white formal uniform. We had spend the day in Monaco which helped make the ceremony even more special that day.

There was just the Captain, the guest relations manager and his lady assistant together with the photographer and video man. It was really well done and the chapel looked great with the flower arrangements.

Afterwards the captain gave us permission to visit the bridge for formal pictures and we went elsewhere around the ship accompanied by the photographer and video man. Passers by passengers congratulated us as we must have looked like newly weds!

We then had dinner in the MDR (second sitting) and enjoyed champagne with fellow table mates and heaps of congratulations from the waiters etc around us.

I was really surprised how well Princess organised it and the cost at $299 was a bargain. Not the photographs or DVD though!!!

As I have previously posted on several threads, it was well worth the money spent. DW and I renewed for our 30th Anniversary on the Royal in January. It was also with Captain Oliver. For the $225 package, you get everything that is listed in the package found in the onboard reservation section of your Personalizer. Everything was expertly arranged by guest services.

We were the only couple. On the first formal night, we were met in our cabin at 2:45 and escorted to the chapel for our 3:00 ceremony. The ceremony and pictures in the Chapel with the Captain ended around 3:30. The head of the photo department, who was our photographer, took us around the entire ship with a videographer for pics and video. They posed us in several places in the Piazza, the casino, the Piano in the Wheelhouse Bar and the Bridge (our favorite).

The pics took about an hour, so we ended around 4:30. We had plenty of time to make our early seating. We were treated like newlyweds by the crew and fellow passengers throughout the day and for the rest of our cruise, as well. Even after dinner at the Captain's welcome and champagne waterfall, Captain Oliver found us to continue chatting with us.

We bought Package 2 which included two more 8 x 10's of our choice, a well prepared DVD musical montage of all the pics, and all (over 100) 4 x 6 photos. This was $280.00. We also purchased the video DVD from the videographer that included the ceremony and our visit to all of the picture places throughout the ship. This was $200.00.

For us, it was memorable and priceless.

Have fun and congrats! Paul

Wow Paul thanks for the great description of how it went and some of the pkg options. Silly question did you both walk down the aisle together or did your dw walk down towards you? Dh really wanted to be surprised by my dress like the 1st time but I said I thought we went in together.

You are welcome. Although we walked to the Chapel together, at the service, I was up front with the Captain when DW walked in like a regular wedding. So, I am sure that you could arrange it so that you arrived after your DH.

However, not sure if dressing separately is a feasible option in a stateroom!!

For us, it was a surprise for my DW, as I bought her a special gown and hid it until we got our call onboard to meet with Anthony, our Ceremony coordinator! She was pleasantly surprised.

Paul

Package 2 was quoted to us at $799 for the photographs. I'm staggered at the difference in price. For what you paid we would have most definitely bought them too.

We just couldn't believe how expensive all the options were. We tried to make a deal on the DVD package but it wasn't accepted. They ended up getting nothing out of us as a result
