Tayscot Posted February 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2016 I know there have been many posts on this in the past and I have had most of my queries answered and intend swapping the set up for 10 beers and 10 Diet Cokes. One thing I would like to know, however, is do I have to accept the beer that is normally put into the minibar or can the beers be changed for alternatives? Not really a fan of lager style beers and would prefer a dark beer/craft beer or wheat beer(Franziskaner). Is this an option that anyone has taken advantage of? Thanks in anticipation of any replies. ggprincess2004 Posted February 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2016 So sorry, your choices are limited to the brands already in the mini-bar, so whatever beer is in there already is what you can exchange for more of. If you would prefer, you can also exchange your mini-bar for two coffee cards, or 8 large (very large) bottles of water or a bottle of wine. shredie Posted February 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I did what you are suggesting on the last cruise. I got 10 bottles of Dos Equis and 10 Diet Cokes. I didn't ask if they could do a different beer.
TM Posted February 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I was always able to exchange the liquor and beer for 10 cans of Coors Light. Not everyone's choice but works for me. Never an issue till our last cruise on the Island through the Panama Canal. They would only exchange for Dos Equis. I had never had that before and did not want it. I asked for a supervisor for room service and got no satisfaction. I went to the Captains Circle host and quite frankly she said it was always a policy to only provide Dos Equis. When I told her that on many prior cruises I had been allowed to exchange for Coors Light she indicated she wanted to know what ships and when and would be reporting to senior management that there was a non-compliance. I found her to be basically rude and condescending and would not even give her my name and cabin number. No way would I let her report someone for making a customer happy. Thanks in anticipation of any replies.Only real choices are Dos Equis, Coors Light, MGD, Bud or Bud Light. Other beers are more expensive and are not available to swap. Other that the SeaWitch beers, you probably won't find any other dark/craft/wheat beers on board and you can't exchange your Dos Equis for any of the SeaWitch beers. Other that the SeaWitch beers, you probably won't find any other dark/craft/wheat beers on board and you can't exchange your Dos Equis for any of the SeaWitch beers. That's also been my experience...it's possible to swap for any of the less expensive beers but for not the more expensive imports such as Heineken. This is what happens when one keeps pushing after being repetitively given the same answer, despite being told the policy that is in place. BTW- we hardly ever drank beer until we tasted the Dos Equis onboard. Now we love it. It is there, it is free, it is worth a try.

sunsetbeachgal Posted February 11, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 11, 2016 No problem exchanging the little liquor bottles and soda/mixers for other items offered. We turned in the tonic water, Sprite and one of the other sodas for more bottled water which was a good thing as our cabin sink didn't work for two days!
