Beachdude Posted February 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2016 You can wear shorts with a long sleeve shirt. A light jacket in the mornings was that we needed. I might get hot, but more likely it was comfortably mild. Burt

Rare Keith1010 Posted February 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) IN terms of weather, I would check the weather forecast a few days before you leave for the cruise because my experience is that weather can change quite a bit from week to week and year to year. You will likely find that you'll need a combination of some light weight clothing but also items for somewhat cooler weather and you'll want to bring a jacket and another item you could layer underneath it. DRS/NC Posted February 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Add gloves & a hat -- just in case! When I did this cruise several Years ago (in Oct.), it was quite cold when we got to Halifax (32*). Lots of us bought gloves from the dock side shops! It may also be quite windy. Bonnie J. Posted February 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) We took a cruise to Nova Scotia & Newfoundland at the end of June, very beginning of July. It was so cold I bought a hoody. The last day going back to NY was so cold no one was on the decks, everyone was inside. It was 60' but there was a cold wind. So just make sure you have warmer clothes than shorts & Ts. You'll still have a good time! Edited February 18, 2016 by Bonnie J.
halifaxcruising Posted February 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2016 it is generally the most consistent weather of the year in eastern Canada. We are from Halifax but travel to NFLD and Quebec frequently. As others have said be prepared for anything, even snow in NFLD is not out of the question. Rain/wind gear is essential, and if you are American you can always purchase anything you want as the Canadian loonie is extremely low compared to the green back. Having said that you may get very warm weather as we have enjoyed the last couple of years in the fall. You will have a great time, Signal Hill is Saint John's is a must, old Montreal is great and Quebec City is as beautiful as a lot of cities in Europe. t_car Posted February 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2016 Old Quebec city is very nice to visit. In Halifax, check out the museumof Canadian immigration, very interesting stuff, and it's right at Pier 21, near where the cruise ships dock. A short distance away is the Maritime museum, a cool Titanic exhibit. For a trip back in time to 1863, take a tour of the Alexander Keith brewery. If you feel like a drive, rent a car (bring a GPS), and go to Peggy's Cove, 45 min away.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 19, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2016 The key here -- dress in layers. Have cruised Canada/New England a few times in September and October. Weather varies. Be prepared.
Clarea Posted February 19, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 19, 2016 I'd be sure to have a light waterproof outer layer.
