johnnyf0614 Posted February 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Someone had posted via info. from their PVP, that during the Sunshine Drydock in May, they are going to move the Sushi place, make the piano bar larger, and make the comedy club larger, while widening some of the halls on 4th floor, as well as painting and replacing carpeting too. Anyone else here this???
13cheermom Posted February 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Just checked out deck plans for these areas and some of them are doable. We're going on her in April so I will really be scoping it out to see if it's possible. The comedy club is desperately in need of expansion (we love comedy shows), so hope that is true. All that gray space behind the limelight lounge bar area is questionable? Guess only time will tell, we still love the Sunshine and have cruised on her 3 times already, so will be an enhancement.:)
mibarron Posted February 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2016 We're going on this ship in August. I heard the comedy club was small, so the expansion will be nice to see. Can't wait!!
ready2cruzagain Posted February 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I didn't even know she was going into dry dock. This is great news since we will be sailing her in Dec.
summersigh Posted February 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I asked John Heald about it a few weeks ago when I first heard rumors. Per John Heald : Yes indeed, she does go in then for 2 weeks dry dock and will receive a great makeover and new carpets and lots of cleaning etc. She will look amazing when she comes out and heads to Charleston. cruzeluver Posted February 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Interesting. I think a two week dry dock is outside the norm for just routine maintenance. So perhaps they are doing some of the more detailed stuff johnnyf0614 posted about. Hope its true. We will be on board the end of May.
tbdurdles2 Posted February 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Woo hoo that would be awesome if they do those things. We are booked on her first cruise out of drydock so can't wait!
Dixie24 Posted February 26, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I wonder where they have room to move Bonsai Sushi too. I would think either in the steakhouse annex dining or in part of the library.

tandemcruzr Posted February 26, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2016 May 8 - 21, 2016. We are on her just prior to this on the 9 day Journey Cruise. Hope they don't start working on stuff until we get off.
reerun25 Posted February 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Woo hoo that would be awesome if they do those things. We are booked on her first cruise out of drydock so can't wait! Same here!! Most of the routine dry docks for hotel maintenance (carpets, cleaning, etc) are typically one week, so could be doable with a 2 week dry dock on remodeling some... teddybear231 Posted February 28, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 28, 2016 Are they removing Bonsai sushi, or just moving somewhere else on the ship?
EdmundXXIII Posted February 29, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Are they removing Bonsai sushi, or just moving somewhere else on the ship? I hope not removing! I am on the Sunshine in October and have been looking forward to trying Bonsai!
teddybear231 Posted March 3, 2016 #17 Share Posted March 3, 2016 I hope not removing! I am on the Sunshine in October and have been looking forward to trying Bonsai! I hope not either! We had Bonsai on the Pride this past August and it was actually pretty good, fairly priced.
Micahs Grandad Posted March 3, 2016 #18 Share Posted March 3, 2016 If they make the comedy club the same size as other ships we will give the Sunshine a try. If not plenty of other choices out there.
johnnyf0614 Posted March 3, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted March 3, 2016 John Heald denied the rumor unfortunately. No plans to make the comedy club or piano bar larger

GROUCHPUSS Posted March 3, 2016 #21 Share Posted March 3, 2016 I was told that they are going to try to take half of the bar out of the Punchliner in order to put more seating in. This was from an upper ship management person. The PB bartender said they were trying to make the PB bigger but it was not looking good for that. Guess we will see. From friends we have sailed with comedy club is half the size as other ships and gotta get there very early to get decent seats. I am afraid Vista will be the same. reerun25 Posted March 10, 2016 #23 Share Posted March 10, 2016 According to JH, the dry dock will be maintenance to the engines, propulsion parts, cleaning of the hull, new carpet, etc.. No mention of anything with the comedy club or the restaurants..
