Dave4120 Posted February 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2016 We will cruising on the Jewel a week after its back from its dry dock at the end of April. Obviously I understand that many refurbishments will take place, however, does a normal dry dock include new room revisions such as new bedding, carpet, TV and bathroom things? I also wonder if they clean good and spruce up the balcony. Just curious...Thanks for anyone's knowledge. Dave
Clarea Posted February 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2016 It seems they replace things like carpeting and draperies as needed. Any CRT type TV will be replaced with a flat screen. Bathrooms usually get new sinks and cabinetry.
Dave4120 Posted February 27, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted February 27, 2016 Thanks for the information. It doesn't matter to us either way, but seemed a bit exciting to know that we would be one of the first to be on a ship that will look, feel and smell fresh and like new
cb at sea Posted February 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2016 "As needed" is the key....if the furnishings aren't in disrepair, they won't be changed. So, don't get too excited about a "new" cabin!!

Langley Cruisers Posted February 27, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2016 Very insightful information. I will let everyone know what improvements we discover. Let us know if they take out the fabulous glass staircase between decks 4 and 5. :( I have read varying reports.
Dave4120 Posted February 27, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted February 27, 2016 I sure will. Just bought a new 4K HD video camera to video a ton of highlights. Now, it's trying to figure out how to operate the darn thing as I think it's more than just pressing a button. Lol
Love PalmTrees Posted February 29, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 29, 2016 How long is the ship typically in dry dock? Thanks!
Clarea Posted February 29, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) How long is the ship typically in dry dock? Thanks! It varies, it depends on what they want to do. Could be a few days to a month. Edited February 29, 2016 by clarea

OfTheSeasCruiser Posted February 29, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Or the hard mattresses they seem to be putting in. Just got off the Allure. The mattress already had a pillow type topper (not egg crate). I guess they're listening to the complaints. Let us know if they take out the fabulous glass staircase between decks 4 and 5. :( I have read varying reports. Since it appears that they are not adding an R Bar or aerial show, I think there might be a good chance that the staircase may stay.

Well if so, that's great. I really think it adds to the ambiance of the Centrum, plus it's a fabulous photo opportunity, and just a great way to get between decks instead of going all the way around. :)

I love the staircase. Not a big deal if it goes, but I'll have to find a new place for my formal photo.
