Luminae Meal Length

We experienced Luminae for the first time last fall on the Equinox. While the dinner service was calm and paced, it also wasn't overly slow. But they are actually preparing the meal so it definitely is slower than MDR service. If you need to be someplace at a specific time just let the servers know.

We did experience some slow service on the Equinox, but it was primarily at breakfast.

How long does the dinner service take in Luminae? I am looking at a 7:30 PM excursion and I am wondering if a 6:00 PM reservation would get us out in enough time.

It would be possible if you come at opening and you can tell your waiter a bit expedite the service. We did it when we wanted to see 7:30 pm show.

However....you don't *have* to have all the courses that night. Ask for a main dish salad or just the entree. Let them know. Tell them to skip the amuse bouche and just get the entree or ask for a salad and entree at the same time.

Honestly, if we had that schedule we would probably eat a very late light breakfast. Then we'd have a really good late lunch maybe mid afternoon.

Then go on the excursion and if we really wanted to, have a dessert when we got back.

Your M'D will sort it. Ask to see the evening menu at breakfast explaining your problem. Give them at least your starter order so on arrival you are not waiting. Choose something for desert like a cheese plate that you can take back to your room and eat after your excursion. Problem solved!

Agreed, you can get in and out in an hour easily. However, I was amazed at how fast time flew during the dinner.

You can get in and out in a hour even when ordering an appetizer and dessert. You'd really have to linger over everything to stretch it to 90 minutes. But the advice to tell the manager and waitstaff of your plans is good.

On cruise last October/November Luminae didn't open until 6:30 pm every night for dinner.

It opened for dinner at 5:45 pm on Reflection a few weeks ago. I'm sure this is itinerary dependent, so that's another consideration for the OP.
