urlaub Posted March 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2016 We will be first time in NYC and we need some suggestions. My husband is paraplegic and full time in a wheelchair. We will be there for one day . Our cruise ship ( Oceania ) will be at Manhattan Cruise Port. What can we do best to see as much as possible? Andee Posted March 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2016 You could easily spend all day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which also has history. The Frick Collection would only take a couple of hours, but is lovely. The Museum of Modern Art was renovated a few years ago. I don't know what you mean when you say that you won't have time for history and art.
Rare Got2Cruise Posted March 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Metropolitan Museum of Art. Not only art. It contains a magnificent Egyptian artifacts wing. If there is time, Central Park is adjacent to the Museum. Edited March 5, 2016 by Got2Cruise
renata102 Posted March 10, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) The museums in NYC are of top quality. You do have time to visit one for a day. Also there are many tour buses that have guided tours if you just want to touch on the heart beat of what makes NYC so electric! Rare Got2Cruise Posted March 10, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2016 I just wanted to add that there was recently a class action lawsuit concerning how the Met asks for admission fees. You are no longer pressured into giving $25. Don't let the price deter you. Give what you can afford.
Nitemare Posted March 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2016 If you can cruise, you can afford to pay $25 to see the incredible exhibits at the Met. That fee doesn't come close to paying for the upkeep of the facility and the collection.
sitraveler Posted March 13, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2016 There is always the Circle Line around the island.. It leaves from a pier just south of where Oceania's cruise ships generally dock. You'll see a few of the highlights and mobility should not be an issue.

That fee doesn't come close to paying for the upkeep of the facility and the collection. Except the Met is a free museum so no need to to pay $25 A donation of whatever you want is appreciated but not required Philanthropists and the guilt ridden can pay whatever they want But since it's a free museum I'll donate $10 for my entire family to enter Never been turned away. Always welcomed with a smile.
