msmith198025 Posted March 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 6, 2016 We are on the ship now, we got an email ahead of time but they never mentioned in it or afterwards what the issue was. In any case under way with clear skys and calm water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare Saint Greg Posted March 7, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) I was on the ship this past week. On Friday in a Q&A the cruise director said they wouldn't be leaving until 8pm because they were preparing for Jacksonville. There's some bridge or something that the ship wouldn't fit under. So they had to take something off of the ship and cut the bottom of it down to make the ship shorter before they could cruise to Jacksonville. Makes sense why they were welding on top the funnel. Looked to be the signal light that extends upward from the funnel.
catnpkg Posted March 9, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) The bridge in Jacksonville is the Dames Point Bridge. Before the Elation the only boat to fit under it is the Facination. And it is a very close fit as in Inches. :) Love being on the boat going under the bridge. Edited March 9, 2016 by catnpkg spelling

4ready2cruz Posted March 9, 2016 #16 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Sailed out of Jacksonville on the Fascination last year. We were up on the Sport Deck as we were going under the bridge, it seemed VERY close! We will be on the Elation in July, can't wait!

GROUCHPUSS Posted March 10, 2016 #20 Share Posted March 10, 2016 They were cutting down the funnel to fit under the bridge. I have a friend that works on the Elation and he was telling me what they were doing.
Yellowbird75 Posted March 10, 2016 #21 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Looks like a Spirit class out of Tampa???? Yeah, too many balconies to be the Fascination and the bridge looks like the Skyway Sunshine bridge in Tampa.
BigEasyCC Posted March 19, 2016 Author #22 Share Posted March 19, 2016 They were cutting down the funnel to fit under the bridge. I have a friend that works on the Elation and he was telling me what they were doing. It wasn't the funnel it's self that was shortened, but the signal light pole that extends from the top of the funnel.
