Rare LMaxwell Posted March 19, 2016 #26 Share Posted March 19, 2016 If all else fails, you could purchase the Carnival transfers from the airport to the port. Guests with Carnival transportation can check-in at their leisure when they arrive at the port, regardless of what their check-in time is. Driving to port. Should not have to pay for transfers just because Carnival's system is not working. Plenty of time for them to sort it out at least before my cruise. It is concerning that the time slot keeps reverting back to blank.

Elaine515 Posted March 19, 2016 #28 Share Posted March 19, 2016 We will be sailing out of Miami in January. How do you go about selecting a boarding time ? Do you need to have the cruise paid for in full or can you select boarding times when you put your deposit down ? Hope someone can clear this up for me. Thanks Choose your check in time as soon as your book your cruise... And be aware, it's not boarding time, its check in time... What ship? If it is the Vista, you do not have the option of selecting your check in time yet. Other ships, it is on the same page that you complete your on line check in. The Vista will have the option to choose check in time beginning in May... 6 months before her first cruise from there...

Just use a PDF editor and change the time, aside from the retiree looking at the forms when you enter the terminal they don't check. Carnival doesn't realize some people can't control transportation arrival times, i'm not sitting at an airport waiting on my "assigned check-in time" with a 4 year old. Never been on a cruise yet where the embarkation and debarkation wasn't a huge cluster.. Nothing against the elderly but that's part of the issue.. Rare jimbo5544 Posted March 19, 2016 #30 Share Posted March 19, 2016 Sounds like a quality vacation experience. I have selected the 11:30-12:00PM check in time for my cruise....4 times! Each time I log in to check something on my booking the time is wiped out and I have to select it again. So if I login the week of my cruise will it disappear and I am left with the latest time? Hmmmm. Not impressed. Sounds like a cookie issue, might want to try another browser.

[emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app I'm not a fan of the change, I don't think it will improve anything and will piss off customers. People want to be on the ship as soon as possible as they are paying for it. It's 2016 and they are operating like it's 1980.. There is no reason with today's technologies you shouldn't be able to get out of a taxi, hand your luggage to the porter, and proceed to board with your room key and passport already in hand. They could accomplish this a million different ways.. They could eliminate a ton of useless jobs using automation and computers..

I hope you realize this won't work once you're inside the terminal and actually try to check in. You, and your 4 year old, will be escorted back outside to stand and wait for your actual check-in time. Enjoy that experience and explaining to your child why. It should be an enlightening parenting milestone for both of you on following the rules.
Sweet Dutch Girl Posted March 19, 2016 #35 Share Posted March 19, 2016 Unless someone "fully" books with Carnival...ie: flights, transportation....their check-in time is independent of ANY travel arrangements. It isn't Carnival's responsibility to coordinate arrival times into the port city and transportation to the port to "check-in times". Also, Carnival is not beholden to hotels and if they "kick you out" long before your check-in time with Carnival that is a hotel issue not a Carnival issue. Your cruise is an independent part of your vacation. Coordination of flights, transportation and hotels is the eventual passenger's responsibility...not the cruise line's. rs45thompson Posted March 19, 2016 #39 Share Posted March 19, 2016 Okay I'm confused. I have read here about the staggered boarding and getting boarding times I registered back in June for my Vista sailing and was not asked about a boarding time. I called carnival to find out what my time was and they said there is no staggered boarding you go straight in when you get there. I called the port of Miami and they didn't know what I was talking about. I am so confused. Where does it show you your time?

firemanbobswife Posted March 19, 2016 #42 Share Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) No. Should not need to make FP to select check in time. Sent from my B1-730HD using Tapatalk I know. I was thinking that if you did make FP and then printed out your boarding pass, then at least you would have that and the barcode when scanned would reflect that you did in fact select the time. But since you can't print it yet, then it doesn't do you any good :( I would try and clear the cache and cookies and maybe try a different browser. If that doesn't work, then I would be on the phone to the Carnival IT department. I would be frustrated as well. alscottg1 Posted March 20, 2016 #48 Share Posted March 20, 2016 I'm a bit confused by this new policy. My husband and I are both platinum. Does that mean we don't have priority and need to pick a time? Or is it priority in our time slot?

Does that mean we don't have priority and need to pick a time? Or is it priority in our time slot? You still need to pick a time slot, but you can arrive at your leisure. That way they can plan accurately and avoid crowding and backlogs. The best thing to do, obviously, would be to choose a time as close to when you actually will arrive.
