Is there a "do not miss" show?

FLICK is the only show ever that I "wanted" to see twice, let alone three times.

I agree that the other shows are not really entertaining at all ... Flick is the first one that has some really cool effects (they do some things with a circle of fans and scarves, it's so cool to watch!)

If you see "FLICK" offered on your ship, ITS A MUST SEE!!!!!!!

I did enjoy Flick, and you’re right- the scarves and fans effects were really neat. However I found the character “Flick” himself to be creepy and emo. I would have liked it a lot better without him in it.

And everyone raved about “America Rocks” but I found it a bit corny. The only good thing about it was that it does use real musicians, the rock band who played around the ship. And the part where the brass section raises up out of the floor was pretty cool, as well.

Last year Triumph flew in a magician from vegas with female assistants/dancers. They had a magic show in the main theater and then a burlesque show in the comedy club. I hope they still do that this year. Elation and Freedom had nothing like that.

How is lip sync battle? We are on the Breeze in May after her dry dock and I read this would be added. Doesn't sound very entertaining to me. Is it the main show one night of your cruise like Hasbro? Hope not!!!

Main show. Last night. It was better than I thought it would be because they made it into a big production and the playlist dancers were in it...but I could do without it.

I actually enjoyed Studio VIP more than Epic Rock on the Sunshine, but maybe it's because everyone hyped up Epic Rock the entire cruise. The first half of Epic Rock wasn't as interesting as the second half.

Another good show is hanging out in the lobby area on the last night listening to the cheapskates removing their auto-tips as "they'll pay out of pocket".

Our last cruise was great. For once in 14 cruises, the DW did not make me sit (sleep) through the shows in the main theater. Bless that woman!

First of all, I am an old timer like most of the cruisers who sail from January until about May. Then the younger generation comes in with children which is very fine with me. Carnival, however, has decided to invest a consider amount of money in the shows that are entirely acid rock or old vintage rock and roll for all cruises all year around.

The music (I use the term loosely) is loud. Actually not loud but EXTREMELY LOUD! While this is going on, they flash lights not just over your head but directly into your eyes. So now you can't see or hear. The costumes are black shroud like capes with jeans to match. The dancers (who must also be singers) do a fantastic job. They save the day given the circumstances. The choreographers should learn choreography and I will leave it at that. I was also very impressed how all the dancers could dance in such precise unison given what they had to work with.

I have completed 20 Carnival cruises and started in 1995. Those were the days! Real theater, variety, actual dancing, fantastic costumes, filled to capacity theater, normal sound, not excessive lighting, standing ovations for long period of times, applause and more deserved applause, need I say more?

I just returned from a February cruise on the Conquest. The shows were ...............ah ................ah ......................ah............... Just a bit less than OK. I am booked for a 2018 Sunshine cruise and will certainly see the first show. After that, the Casino will be tempting. Maybe that is what it is all about.

Wow! I thought I would get beat up with nasty replies after my last post but not even one. That surprises me. In any event, I still like you Carnival and cruise 21 (all with Carnival) has already been purchased.

If you can handle adult game shows, I highly recommend THE QUEST!

I'll second that. We had adult games and quest late one night on Freedom. Had no idea what they were. We didn't have them on any of my previous cruises. Very fun/funny. They should have them on all the ships.

America Rocks has live music. It was ok. Cool to have live music, but pretty cheesy and you better be a fan of Lynard Skynard. I wanted to see 88 keys, but they had to do a variation of them sitting around a piano because seas were too rough & it was dangerous for them to perform. Nick (can't remember his last name) on the magic who played the piano was great in everything he did. The girls seemed like they were trying to out-screech each other the entire time and it seemed like whoever was doing the sound wasn't doing it right. Didn't see The Quest but heard it was great. Nothing I saw that was "can't miss it". Definitely better shows on the cruises I was on 10-12 years ago. We had Dr. E as our CD so that definitely made up for the sub-par shows. The cast is talented, but the production is just blah.

The large showroom shows are pretty corny. They kind of remind me of counselors at summer camp putting on a show. We've always enjoyed the comedians, though. Get there early to get seats because it fills up fast!

We absolutely loved Epic Rock and hope it's playing again on our next one. Our teenage son didn't go with us the first time so he's hoping it plays too since he's into classic rock. I also love 80's music, so hoping 80's Pop to the Max is on our next one. We haven't seen that.

If you're old enough to remember The Newlywed Game, then you're familiar with Love & Marriage. I didn't go to the whole thing, but stood up in the balcony for 20 minutes or so and it's just not my thing. I thought Hasbro was very boring.

We showed up late to one of the comedy shows and it was packed, standing room only. We got to see about 20 minutes of his set and he was pretty funny. The line for the next show was already extremely long when we were leaving, and it was still an hour or two away. So I'd say definitely show up to comedy shows early.

Seems like the consensus in this thread is that the playlist production shows don't get much love. Some of the comments are downright mean. Bottom line is, to each their own. Everyone has different tastes in entertainment. Sounds to me like things have changed quite a bit over the years, but doesn't it always? Those familiar with the past are rarely pleased with present-day changes. I know this thread was started last year and the OP has probably gotten the info they were looking for, but one thing I'd say is, don't let anyone tell you NOT to try these shows, which a few did just that. There's really no harm in checking at least one of them out. You can always leave if it's not your cup of tea. Or you might be pleasantly surprised.
