Two Regal questions

First time on Regal in Nov.

 

Two questions:

 

1. I keep reading bad reviews about the towels, i.e hard, scratchy, like Motel 6 towels etc. What's up?

 

2. Along the laundry lines, our last cruise was our first as Elite, we were on Emerald and the laundry benefit was awesome. I'm sure its based on the amount of Elites on board but what's your impression of Regal's laundry service? Quality, timing, etc.

We were recently on the Royal Princess, sister of the Regal. Towels were fine. Elite laundry service was very good.

The towels are fine on the Regal. Also laundry service is usually about 2 days.

Laundry service turnaround does depend on the number of elites onboard. On the Diamond last month it was 3 days.

Just off Regal and 75% of the towels we received are rough (but not quite sandpaper like most of the towels from our local gym) and 25% of them are new and soft. So obviously they have some legacy towels that are in the process of being replaced! :)

We were on the Regal in February and the towels were similar to what we have had on other Princess cruises. I suppose though that what is rough to some is good to others. We were getting 2 day turnaround for elite laundry service. The clothes came back in great shape. Now if I could just get them to NOT press my jeans. :eek:

I don't care for the towels, even the ones in a suite. But then I am spoiled by the Cariloha bamboo towels we use at home. I never would have believed something made of bamboo could be so much softer than cotton.

Just got off the Regal this past Sunday. The towels dried me when I was wet! They did their job. :)

They are not the best but you can bring your own.

Ask for extra pool towels. They are often softer than those in the bathroom and they're like bath sheets. :)

Just got off the Regal this past Sunday. The towels dried me when I was wet! They did their job. :)

 

And that's what they are meant to do. All fixed.

That's what we did. The towels they left in the bathroom were pretty rough but for some reason the pool towels were better.

The bath towels on the Royal were even worse.

Yes, and they take some skin too. I don't sweat the small stuff, but geez...the bath towels are BAD.

I like slightly rough towels..they dry better than "fluffy", soft towels! If they are "scratchy"...just blot...that will dry you without removing your very sensitive skin!

The bath towels on the Royal were even worse.

 

When we were on the Royal British Isles/TA last fall we had the worst towels I've ever seen on a cruise ship with stains and small holes. Many of them were worse than the ones I use to wash my car. Luckily I bring my own towels because of my sensitive skin, but I felt sorry for dh. We had a rather lazy steward, but when I asked our table mates and other passengers most of them were unhappy with the towels, too.

 

I hope our towels on the Ruby next month and the Regal in August are better.
