GAPeach68 Posted April 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2016 We are booked on the 5/29 sailing of the Getaway. We are currently booked in a balcony stateroom. We can upgrade to a guaranteed mini suite for a total of $169.36. Is it worth it? What is the difference, besides the size of the bathroom? Should I even bother right now, or should I wait and call the upsell line in a couple weeks? Thank you in advance for your help. :-)
spanishguy1970 Posted April 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) I always think that is never worth it to pay for a mini suite. I for one would hold off unless space is important to you. I always book the highest category balcony and usually get offered free upgrade to a mini suite 2 weeks before the cruise. I have to say for some people that does not happen as much but i have always been lucky, it must be because i book transatlantics they are not as full as other cruises. Good luck and have fun. vince_g Posted April 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) The minis that have a shower have the nice shower panels they have in the suites, and while it's nice having all those jets, I wouldn't think it's $169 nice. The family minis have a bathtub/shower combo. Edited April 22, 2016 by vince_g
Rare BirdTravels Posted April 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2016 Extra space in the bathroom is always a good thing. We always try to book minisuites (or above)
Sand and Seas Posted April 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2016 We have been in both types on the Getaway and didn't find a mini worth too much more than a balcony. However, the shower was nice....just not sure if it's worth more $$ that you could spend elsewhere. And it might move you to another area of the ship that you don't like as well as your original cabin.
April42749 Posted April 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2016 If you're happy with the cabin you have now, I'd stay put. That is, unless you spend a lot of time in the bathroom.
cpcmaestro Posted April 22, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) If it were me I would keep the current room and spend that extra money on thermal spa passes! ;) Edited April 23, 2016 by cpcmaestro
dcipjr Posted April 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2016 I'd rather try to get a B1 aft balcony over a mini suite. Are there any of those available?
Sand and Seas Posted April 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2016 If it were me I would keep the current room and spend that extra money on thermal spa passes! ;) Agree! Having access to the Thermal Spa for the week would add much more to your vacation. Getaway's Spa is wonderful.
cruisebie Posted April 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 23, 2016 If you are sailing with kids, the extra space might be nice. If you think you might want to upgrade, I wouldn't wait. In a couple of weeks those cabins may be gone.
CP3o Posted April 23, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2016 You probably selected a location you like w balcony and so I might not consider it just for the randomness of where might end up. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
