Cabin upgrade - is it worth it?

We are booked on the 5/29 sailing of the Getaway. We are currently booked in a balcony stateroom. We can upgrade to a guaranteed mini suite for a total of $169.36. Is it worth it? What is the difference, besides the size of the bathroom? Should I even bother right now, or should I wait and call the upsell line in a couple weeks? Thank you in advance for your help. :-)

I always think that is never worth it to pay for a mini suite. I for one would hold off unless space is important to you. I always book the highest category balcony and usually get offered free upgrade to a mini suite 2 weeks before the cruise. I have to say for some people that does not happen as much but i have always been lucky, it must be because i book transatlantics they are not as full as other cruises. Good luck and have fun.

The minis that have a shower have the nice shower panels they have in the suites, and while it's nice having all those jets, I wouldn't think it's $169 nice. The family minis have a bathtub/shower combo.

Extra space in the bathroom is always a good thing. We always try to book minisuites (or above)

We have been in both types on the Getaway and didn't find a mini worth too much more than a balcony. However, the shower was nice....just not sure if it's worth more $$ that you could spend elsewhere. And it might move you to another area of the ship that you don't like as well as your original cabin.

If you're happy with the cabin you have now, I'd stay put. That is, unless you spend a lot of time in the bathroom.

I'd rather try to get a B1 aft balcony over a mini suite. Are there any of those available?

Agree! Having access to the Thermal Spa for the week would add much more to your vacation. Getaway's Spa is wonderful.

If you are sailing with kids, the extra space might be nice. If you think you might want to upgrade, I wouldn't wait. In a couple of weeks those cabins may be gone.

You probably selected a location you like w balcony and so I might not consider it just for the randomness of where might end up.
