Invicta Watches on board

Hi everyone! We just got back on the 17th from our cruise on the NCL Dawn. It was a fantastic cruise!!!

I do want to let fellow cruisers know about the Invicta Watches for sale on board. I purchased one during the 70% off sale (happens every cruise, not just on NCL). I was extremely happy. Until I got home and found the exact watch online at Walmart for less than half the sale price!!! I paid 178.00 for the watch and it sells normally at Walmart for 84.00.

Do not be fooled! I have sent a question to NCL customer service, we will see if they do anything about it. I will update this post if I hear anything.

Otherwise, have fun on all your upcoming cruises!

Of course, NCL's sales pitch frenzy - lessons learned, sorry to read about it - next time, just skip those special "sales" with the port shopping consultant's infomercials ... :D

Walmart prices are still too high, try eBay (or, have a look there) - popular models as low as $50 to $70 each, shipped free, etc.

Yes, I got caught up in the hype. I have to say, it is a very nice watch. I did win several hundred in the Casino, so that paid for the watch. I would have never spent that much otherwise. I just wish I had been informed! Live and Learn.

I was always curious (walking through the shops) whether anything in there was actually a good deal.

I remember on one cruise, I was in the market for a pair of Ray Bans, and figured I'd check the store; I only found styles I didn't like, at prices that were significantly more expensive than what Amazon would charge.

Kind of a watch hound myself. Invicta watches are sold just about EVERYWHERE! So, deals on land are easy to find.

That said, if you go for some of the upper price tier watches like Tags, and get them for the 10% off (I think it's 10%) and no tax, those are pretty good deals. At least around me, I never see upper tier watches on sale.

Cruise line prices on Hamilton and Citizen watches aren't bad, either.

Excellent point, I came close to buying a piece of John Hardy jewelry while on the Getaway. I may next time as prices are tightly controlled at retail, but with a small discount and no tax it is was a good deal. I had not researched pre cruise and the ring while beautiful was a fancier than what I planned for.

I much rather buy a watch from one of the bricks and mortar stores in St. Thomas, or San Juan than aboard ship. I can never understand who the actual parent company is for the Jewlery shops aboard ship, and if there's any issue, NCL refers you to the contractor. Of course, Invictas are simply large, heavy, shiny wrist ornaments with the life span of a field mouse. So at the prices Walmart or the ship's store sells them for, its not that great a loss.;)

:D;) Yeah they look awesome but their reliability isn't rumored to be great. Nor their reputation for warranty service.

But OP, enjoy your watch, odds are it will work fine for several years. And they are impressive in appearance. And it will always bring back good vacation memories :)
