Spa services

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any spa services on board? I'll be turning 30 on board our next cruise and figured I'd gift myself a facial. I tried googling and got some mixed reviews most of which are pretty dated. Also it will be on the pride so no cloud 9.

Every time I cruise I get some spa service. Typically I will get one of the daily specials that includes a massage and facial. I enjoy them. They are more expensive then on land and they will try to sell you stuff. I just ignore the sales pitch.

I only did a spa day one time on the ship and then I did just the scalp massage due to a headache on time - I won't be going back - the seemingly endless sales pitch and health questions they ask you before services isn't relaxing at all. 20 minutes into your appt, you begin the service and then they spend another 20 minutes after trying to sell you products. Just say no in the beginning if you don't want all that.

I get massages before and after I go at the local place instead of on the ship now. Cheaper to get 2 than get 1 on the ship.

Also, depending on where you are sailing, there are great massages on the beaches you can get for $25 - $50 for a pretty descent massage.

I agree about the sales pitch. I got a foot massage on Magic last week and the girl tried to make me feel stupid for not buying the $300 worth of stuff SHE thought I needed!! I was sure to mention that on the survey I did after I got home.

There is usually a sea day special. I think I paid $119 for a full body massage this past April. They will try to sell you $180 worth of crap on your way out. A "no thank you" worked just fine. Massage was worth the $119. Wasn't that much more than I typically pay while at home.

I wouldn't do a facial on a cruise unless it was on the last day.

The skin on my face is sensitive to the sun and I wouldn't want to have any issues I photos etc.

I was just on the pride s few weeks ago and the spa was terrible. My advice is take the $ and go to a spa at home. The massage was terrible, the sales pitch and customer service were horrible, it was very expensive and totally not worth it.

Had a facial 2 yrs ago on the Breeze. It was nice, but these people don't take no for an answer! High pressure sales pitch for at least 15 minutes after I was done. About as much pressure if not more as Massage Envy! Won't do that again.

Everyone should know the sauna and steam room are free. If I get a massage, I tell them up front as well as write on the pre-questionaire that if they try a sales pitch they will ruin my experience, I will walk out and I won't pay. Never heard a sales peep. Some services are better than others, and the proficiency of the techs is variable, but if I'm winning in the casino, I'll treat myself to a massage.
