Suzez Posted May 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2016 So! I've done a review yesterday of our recent cruise, it's not showing up. It took me a while to do. How long do they take to show? Many thanks
poss Posted May 5, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2016 Can't answer your question, Suzez. But thanks in advance for doing.

Robyn2 Posted May 5, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2016 Oh dear Suzez....went to find your review and instead found a rather scathing review of the 'new' Navigator, wish I hadn't read it and hope yours will be more positive. Thank you for the photos, must say I think it all looks quite good :)
tallship Posted May 5, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I just read that review. i wonder who the GM was on that cruise. I will never go on a cruise immediately after drydock
Travelcat2 Posted May 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) When you submit a review to CC, it takes a few days before it is posted. If I remember correctly, you will hear from CC when the review is posted. Regarding the negative review, it seems fair. Just a couple of items to comment on. While iPads are available for use in PH and above suites, you need to ask your butler for one. I do feel that the butler should ask but he doesn't. Many of us prefer not using Regent's iPad because our own are mose up to date. Secondly, the "one log on per suite" has been advertised for months. This is different than the Seven Seas Society benefit when you each have your own log-on. I'm surprised that the person that wrote the review was not aware of this. DeepFreeze63 Posted May 5, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 5, 2016 I also read that review and one can "nit-pick" the comments but if it is accurate then SHAME on Regent! This is not a ferry boat but rather, an expensive and supposedly "6-star" cruise.
UUNetBill Posted May 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) I also read that review, and if anyone was nit-picking, it was the author of the review. They lost credibility with me as soon as they talked about $125 million being spent on Navigator; the $125 million was for the entire fleet, not one ship. And the Internet login issue? Clearly stated in the literature. The brown water is unacceptable, of course, but that's been a long standing problem on the Navigator. And because they thought the excursions were too strenuous? I think one should know the limits of a physical handicap and plan accordingly. Now if that excursion was misrepresented, that's a different story. But we'll never know for sure, will we? And in the same paragraph in which he complains about luggage being left in the hallway, he also states he had a butler. Did it ever occur to him to perhaps call the butler to have his luggage brought down the hall? I sure as hell would have. I think you have to expect some issues immediately after such an extensive refit. If you spend your entire cruise pointing out loose screws rather than just enjoying the experience, well, that's on you. I'd take that review with a grain of salt... Mudhen Posted May 6, 2016 #13 Share Posted May 6, 2016 I've read the review too. I tend to agree with "Bill" that a lot of time was spent looking for defects, however if I had paid A LOT of money for my trip, I'd be unhappy too. The fact that the $#@% brown water is still around is really off putting. I would've hoped it would have been the very first thing they addressed as it's been an issue for a LONG time. As far as the cabin refits, I can only say "what were they thinking?" That huge bare countertop looks like a kitchen. All it needs is a toaster, blender and microwave to complete the look....I would so hope that they'll tweek some of those issues before they touch the Voyager. I have to admit, the pictures I've seen so far aren't too promising. Perhaps this is why Regent hasn't posted any photos on their website other than one or two from CR or the library. I'm going to wait until I see it in person in July before I pass final judgment, but I'm not overly optimistic. I wouldn't hold my breath on the other two ship's refits, either - I'm pretty sure it's too late in the game to make any substantial design changes. Maybe they'll order a few more chairs, but I would bet that the design is pretty solid at this point in time.

TWG_ag Posted May 6, 2016 #17 Share Posted May 6, 2016 The first cruise we took in 1982 we met a wonderful couple that we still get to together with every few years. That was their one and only, "we will never do this again" cruise, while we are over 25. Their review of that cruise would have read like the one before the OP's and ours would have read like the OP's. When I read reviews here, on Yelp, on Trip Advisor, or other opinion sites, I always do so with a filter to try and find the things that will help me, ignoring the obvious over the top good and bad. Reviews are very helpful for me and others; and I appreciate people doing them. I just make sure I get the things I need from them while leaving the rest behind. So thanks for your reviews, both of you. As an aside, I have been on the Navigator five times and she is my favorite ship mostly because of the wonderful people that work on her and who work so hard to give me an enjoyable time. I would encourage anyone to try her, but she won't be everyone's favorite, even if she is mine.
PaulaJK Posted May 6, 2016 #18 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Susez, I enjoyed your review & positive impressions and am glad that you enjoyed your cruise. I also read the review of the cruise prior. I respect it. The poster described his issues without ranting and described how he addressed them. I didn't find much nit picking and would have been equally dissatisfied. I also recognize that once things start going wrong for you, there frequently is a roll on effect. Why should he be thrilled to see his luggage in the hall? [think hotel] Hand rails that aren't usable? "Brown water' is unacceptable ....and the answer of the reception desk fantasy filled. No one pays all of that money to be part of a construction site/dry dock. And no one wants their luggage pilfered, no matter whether at sea or on land. Regent can be an excellent line. Crooz_N Posted May 6, 2016 #20 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Thank you for taking the time to post the review. Very interested in any info on the Navigator as we board in January for WC. Am trying to confirm informatin I received from GM, Davor, on the Mariner while on our Grand South America voyage earlier this year who indicated Regent had reversed their decision to eliminate the Connoisseur Lounge but relocate it instead up one deck near the Casino. Any info is appreciated.
Pamela1 Posted May 6, 2016 #21 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Saw your review today and looks really positive, looking forward to going in a few weeks time and hope the small issues will have been ironed out by then. Glad you had a good trip overall. Pam.
UUNetBill Posted May 6, 2016 #22 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Am trying to confirm informatin I received from GM, Davor, on the Mariner while on our Grand South America voyage earlier this year who indicated Regent had reversed their decision to eliminate the Connoisseur Lounge but relocate it instead up one deck near the Casino. Any info is appreciated. That would be nice - "I don't always smoke cigars, but when I do, I smoke them in the Connoisseur Club." It would have been nice if Regent was a little more proactive in getting photos and deck plans on the website. I mean, they surely had drawings of the proposed changes they could have posted after the drydock was completed...they have deck plans for Explorer and she's not even launched yet. Wouldn't have taken much to have them ready to post, and just copy the pages over after the refit was complete...
liptastic Posted May 6, 2016 #23 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Thanks for your review Suez. It's a very well written account of your first Navigator cruise and great to hear how you enjoyed the ship and cruise. Jean.
Robyn2 Posted May 6, 2016 #24 Share Posted May 6, 2016 Also enjoyed reading your positive review Susez especially after the disaster report from the previous reviewer. Amazing how 2 people can find the same ship so different...... different strokes for different folks I suppose. Have to say the brown water is a bit of a turn off, surely something can be done! Still love Regent....warts and all :)
Suzez Posted May 7, 2016 Author #25 Share Posted May 7, 2016 Thank you so much to those who read my review ( first one here) Whilst on board we did hear of the problems on the previous cruise, some worse than others. There were a few plumbing issues, we had a leak and the wifi was unreliable but nothing to spoil our time. We truly enjoyed out time on Navigator. We always sail with an open mind. What one person may not like, another will love and we did love Navigator.
