Terrible wait forever drink service in casinos.

Just off the Conquest last week, and my biggest complaint is the bar service at the tables and slots.

After waiting 30 minutes to order a drink, I had to wait another 30 minutes to have it delivered!

This is just plain unacceptable!

Reading these boards, I noticed more than my complaint about this on other ships.

How many out there have had the same problem?

Of course you can always get up, walk to the bar and get a drink. Works for me every time.

Just amazes me how many people sit five foot from the bar or the coffee station, snap their fingers at waiters, and complain that they can't get service.

Tip them a buck. You will be amazed how quick they come back.

When I get the DOU card, I usually give them a $5 chip while playing. I figure that is still half price in my book. Never had to wait for a drink again. I remember one cruise, I think I put a waitress through her first year of college.

On my Splendor cruise I became really friendly with one of the casino drink servers, and he came back very quickly. He'd even bring me another drink without asking, of course I will tipping him well. On my Fantasy cruise I couldn't even find a server, so I guess it varies by ship. I've always felt that if you want something quick, go get it yourself. Carnival is a "bargain" cruise line after all, people don't book this line to be pampered.

Not so easy when you're at a machine or table you like but might not want to stay at forever.

Table is easy. Leave chips on the table and go.

Got my first DOU card last time I was on the Conquest and tipped a dollar every drink. Everytime I sat down at the game kings, the same waitress came within 5 minutes and said "Hi Mr Neil! You having the same drink? "

Think she liked getting me loaded ;)

I agree with the original poster. I just got off the Glory and had the same problem in the Casino. I have no problem going to the bar but when I was playing craps with a hot hand I didn't want to walk away. I always tip on drinks even when I had to wait a long time. I don't blame the waitress or waiter as they just seemed overworked. I wish they would put more workers on. I had a good pit boss most nights (Alex) who would call them over for us.

Most times have never had a problem... One lady on another thread told of a very compelling way to get a server to a table game. She was having lousy service and after waiting the 30 minutes had had it. She pulled her chips back and as the dealer turned to her said "When I get a drink, I play"....

I think she was playing 3 card, amazingly in about 2-3 minutes a server showed up! Took everyone's order, she said fine, when your back I play. About 2-3 minutes later the drinks arrived and everything was back to normal, service was quick from then on. Never tried it but I do remember it.

Personally I've only had the slow walk a couple of times and after the 2nd night my wife and I have never had a problem getting a drink, we do tip well though.

Yes, most of the time the casino is so crowded that it takes forever to get a drink delivered. And, as some have said, it's not always as easy as just getting up to get your own drink; especially when there are other people waiting to grab a spot at a table or slot machine. You could easily lose your seat if you get up.

If I remember correctly, if you have the DOU Card, you have to get the drinks through a server. You can't go to the bar and get it yourself. At least that's the way it was on the one time that I did get the card.

Always amazes me when a poster asks someone to accept sh*t*y service and chides them for talking about it.

Yep gotta agree, can't believe people are that lazy.

Dang if they got up someone else could win that jackpot and then no one would be lazy! Lazy, lazy people always wanting to be somewhere waiting on someone when they could be up moving and losing... what a thought!

we had terrible bar service in the Casino - even sitting at tables ---- could not easily get a server - long wait from order to delivery - even tipping well didn't help - must have been short staffed.

We tipped 1$ extra per drink sometimes more ...in cash ...on the Paradise these last few times we've cruised her they've had some excellent wait staff..they remember exactly what I'm drinking! I did notice when we played table games it was a bit slower but we got our drinks pretty promptly. I also noticed they took way longer for those who complained and whined AND did not tip. That's just business..you are going to go where the money is as well as the kindness. Not saying OP isn't a good tipper or complained but those are things I notice when we are in the casino. I've seen people literally treat wait staff and well as other staff ( like the room steward) like they are personal slaves. Not cool. They are people!

Its called Cutbacks. Fewer servers now on all ships.

We were on the Conquest in April and the only way to get service was to be first in a chair at most bars. The only one we found that was on top of their game was the Alchemy Bar. I think Carnival has reached the threshold for employee cuts and any kind of normal service. Carnival is the Undercard of Cruising.

Um, no I meant you.

I hope on your birthday you go to a nice restaurant and they ask you to go get your own meal.

After all, you aren't lazy, right?

I agree with you. It is becoming painful and the day I have to get up from the table while gambling to get my own drink will be my last cruise on Carnival. What the heck is happening to the cruise company I have loved and given much business for nearly 20 years?

I think you are right too and yet the mystery: Carnival makes tons of money from drinks. More servers should equal more profitable drinks served.

Or is it that Cheers pre-pay has messed with the formula?

After all, after getting the money upfront, the LESS DRINKS served, the more profit?
