3 weeks from tomorrow! First cruise so it will all be new to me. I will try to check in here during port days when I should have cell coverage to give updates. I've gotten lots of great ideas and insight from this forum, thanks to all who post and share.

I was on the Star 6 months ago. Great crew, ship in fine condition, it had been about 10 years since I had sailed on her and still a beautiful ship, well maintained. I just got back from Alaska 5 days ago on the Ruby, you will enjoy your upcoming cruise...no worries!

I know Alaska is all about the scenery, but can you tell me were there enough activities onboard to keep you busy, what kind of entertainment did the Star have?

By the time you sail, the entertainment will have changed, several times over. There are lectures on Alaska, rangers come onboard, the usual trivia, movies, etc. But since it's all about the scenery and ports, activities are limited on port days.

We were on the Star 3 times last year including a 31-day South American cruise. We loved the ship. Easy to get around. Food and service fabulous. Lots of entertainment options. And if Capt. Ravera is still there, one of the finest captains we have ever met.

Southbound a week from tomorrow...specific questions?

mytimes53, you are apparently lucky enough to be on the first southbound Alaskan cruise this year on the Star. I am so jealous! Would you (or any other early Southbound Alaska cruisers on the Star) be willing to scan and post (or e-mail) copies of your Princess Patters when you return? I don't get to sail until September 3rd and I would love to be able to browse over the possibilities while I impatiently wait for my turn. I realize that things might change, but this would help me survive until it is my turn. I'm sure other people would also be interested in seeing these as well. I would be extremely grateful if you would help me out. Thank you so much!

I have 2 questions about the Star. It has been a while since we've cruised Princess, but my husband very much enjoyed that they had a classic rock style band in one of the lounges. If you notice this offering on the Star please let me know.

I also am very interested in hearing how the anytime dining is on the Star. Traditional is waitlisted. . It is just 2 of us and we don't mind sharing tables, so I hope it is a smooth process.

Additionally, any 2016 Star Alaskan Reviews would be Great!!!!

We don't leave till September so the more the better!

Thanks

I am on board Star as I write this, posting from the ship's internet cafe. You will have a great time. Ship is beautiful, Alaska is amazing - you are in for an amazing vacation.

Any signs of norovirus?

Not much traffic on that roll call, is there? I signed on a couple weeks back. This is a present to my granddaughter...no big excursions planned (the cruise is enough!) Normally when DH and I cruise it's all about the ports of call, but for this cruise, it's about being on a cruise ship. We'll see what the weather is as we get to port, but we'll probably just walk around each town.

That's a great present!

I've done the same land tour and cruise tour in 2009 and am going to try some different excursions. Roll call will probably pick up once things open up for booking.

Hope to meet you and nanabanana on board!

Hello!! Just disembarked this morning from Star Princess. Spent 32 days on her, ending with the 7 day Alaska voyage. Loved everything about the Star. The crew are amazing and the Captain is still Stefano Ravera. Last night, he took the ship along the most scenic passage, past Alert Bay... the sun was shining and the views from Skywalkers were simply amazing.

The Star does not have the new mattress's.... if my memory serves me correctly, I believe the end of 2017.

Hated to leave the ship this morning, but hope to return real soon.

Anytime dining in Portofino and Capri was easy-breezy... no waits at all... I usually dined around 7:30 and later.

If anyone has other questions, please ask! :)

Did you go to the Casino? Any luck? I'm curious what the table minimums are.

I've done 5 (4.5?) Alaska cruises, have never been to a single show, yet still come home tired (but happy) from each cruise - there's plenty to do for everyone. Heck, "reading a book" to people watch can be entertainment enough! ;)
