Family Miracle Cruise

Just back from our Cruise on The Miracle. Myself(57) DH(57) DD(32) SIL(34) GS(12) GD (7). This was the 11th for DH and I and the first for DD and family.

Embarkation Long Beach - We drove down Saturday morning from Vegas and arrived at port about 10:30am. We had FTTF, no lines, checked right in and were on board by noon.

Cabins - We were all on Deck 6 Aft Balconies which was perfect. Simone was our Steward and she was a doll. We were never asked about service and received it twice a day.

Lido - Food was good, kids LOVED the pizza, DD liked the Chicken Fingers. Burgers and Hot Dogs were ok. Chopsticks was my favorite. Actually the food on the Lido was hands down better than the Dining room. We only ate in the Dining Room 3 of the 7 days. It was pretty bad, so bad that it was embarrassing when the waiter kept asking if we were "really" done when we asked him to take our plates. However we don't travel for food and as I said, the Lido Food was good.

Entertainment - We only saw one show The Island Getaway, corny but entertaining. The kids LOVED the Comedy Club. Mark Simmons was the Comedian the first two nights. He was hilarious, the 2nd night GS got pulled up along with another little girl and it was so funny. tGS got his first Ship on a Stick, he was happy. The last night we saw Kelly Terranova, not funny. DD and I did Trivia 3 times, Motown, Movie and TV theme songs and Friends. It was a lot of fun.

Red Frog Pub - Spent a lot of time here, kids liked the Foosball and Chicken Wings were good too.

Well I gotta run, that darn work is getting in the way. Back later with Port info.

Thanks for the review! Glad you all had fun!

It always amazes me how different folks have such different taste buds! We don't eat dinner on the Lido because we look forward to the food in the MDR!

Funny how different everyone feels on this topic!

We are sailing on the Miracle for our annual Thanksgiving cruise.

It's nice to know they are serving snacks in Red Frog Pub. If you remember, how much was the charge?

On the Carnival website, it states no food is served. I was bummed about that.

Was there a charge for the food in the RedFrog? Love myself some chicken wings :D What else did they offer?

There was a charge I think it was 10.95 and you could also get Pizza but we never did. If you ask they have a little free snack of plantains and spicy dried peas, both good!

Sorry the Miracle has the Red Frog Cantina and they do serve food.

Cabo Day 1 - Since we had FTTF we meant in The Alchemy Lounge and were escorted to the first tender. We took a long walk through town on our way to Medrano Beach. On a way through the vendors we meant Vincente. He made us a deal for the next day to take a tour on the glass bottom boat. $10 for Adults and the kids were free. If we wanted to snorkel it was an extra $15 but we just wanted the tour. The kids love to swim in the ocean and had been looking forward to that. It was a really warm beautiful day too. We stopped at the Office for Lunch and it was so good. DH and I shared a Chile Relleno and it was delicious. DD had Chicken Toquitos and SIL had Carne Asada, both were very good. GS had Fish Fingers and Fries and GD had.....a cheeseburger! Then we went next door to Mango and they got us some chairs near the beach so we could watch the kids. All we had to do was order some drinks. The kids had a blast swimming and after about 2 hours were exhausted. We grabbed a water taxi $10 for the 6 of us and headed back to port. It had been a great day and DH and I went to our balcony to watch sail away and shared a nice chilled bottle of Chardonnay. Gotta love those balconies.

After our day in Cabo and our big Lunches we just had Pizza for dinner on the Lido. DH, DD the kids and I went to the Comedy Show. Then DD took them for Ice Cream and DH and I did a little gambling.

Cabo Day 2- No need for FTTF for tenders today we just walked right on. We found Vincente and headed off to the tour. The glass bottom is a bit of a joke but the kids did get to see some pretty fish. Then out to Lovers Arch and passed the Sea Lions. Then they dropped us at Medrano Beach and asked what time we wanted to be picked up. The return was included in the price, we said 2:00pm as the ship was leaving at 3:00pm. Once again the kids hit the water and we found 4 loungers in the shade at Mango. To use the loungers you had to spend $20 a person. We said no problem, we would be there for several hours and planned on eating Lunch there. Love the crazy entertainment they have there too. So DD and I had a couple cocktails and DH had some Cervezas, SIL doesn't drink. Kids were playing and making new friends. We decided at noon to have some Lunch (should have went back to The Office). DH and I shared Steak Fajitas, meat was flavorless, beans and rice were cold and tasteless. DD had Chicken Nachos, she said they were just ok. SIL had Steak Fajitas as well. GS had The California Roll and was so disappointed when it arrived. In Mexico they put Cream Cheese in place of Avocado...he hates cream cheese! GD had....yep another cheeseburger. About 1:40 we packed up and headed over where we were to be picked up. There was a guy selling mangos on a stick. I asked a lady who was eating one if it was good, her response ummmmm yes. So I went and got one for GS and I and it was delicious. So we wait for Vincente, and wait,a nd wait. Finally at 2:15 DH makes a deal with another Water taxi to take us. I think it was again $10 for all of us. So back to the Ship and off to Red Frog Cantina for a Red Frog Beer, love those. The kids played Foosball and we all just talked about the 2 great days we had. We wanted to turn in early because we were really looking forward to Puerto Vallarta. We were going to spend the day at Las Caletas. DH and I did it a few years ago and it was amazing.

Wow that's a bit pricey. Thanks for the heads up. Do you know what extra was available for a fee on room service? I have not been able to find a menu for that. Unfortunately not many talk on here about the Miracle and things seem so different on each ship.

I'm pretty disappointed to hear that the food was horrible in the dining room. Our first cruise in 2004 was on the Ecstasy and the food was great in the dining room and the lido deck food was not good.

What was bad about the dining room food? We are cruising on the Miracle this December with the whole family and I plan on having the dining room make my gluten free food. I cannot depend on a buffet for gluten free food, too high of a chance for contamination.

Thank you for the wonderful review of Cabo. I've never been. We will definitely be trying The Office for lunch!

The Red Frog had food on Miracle? When I was on board, all they had was the spicy dried peas - and only those were occasionally out. They definitely weren't serving any food in there. Then again, they didn't have the pretzels in the sports bar yet either.

On Breeze the Red Frog food was all $3.33.

We never ordered room service this time but SIL did. He said he got chicken wings and pizza. He said the pizza was not the same as the pizza on the lido or as good.

The Mahi Mahi we adults had the first night was dry and overcooked. GS had the Salmon which he loves and he said it was good. GD had chicken fingers from the kids menu and she liked them.I figured it was the first night so I let that pass. 2nd night was elegant night and we all had the Lobster (joke) it was so tiny and had a very weird color to it. DH ordered the prime rib and he said it was tough and flavorless. The 3rd and last time we ate in there all the adults had the filet and short ribs. The filet had a very strange consistency, the short ribs were ok. GS had the teriyaki salmon which he did not like. Not sure it was bad, just not something he didn't like. I had 2 of the soups, clam chowder and navy bean and both were ok. SIL had the stuffed mushrooms and he loved them. So I guess it depends on what you like. The family all dining together was the best part so I am sure you will have a good time and find something you like.

Have Fun!

Sorry the Miracle has the Red Frog Cantina and they do serve food.

To clear up some confusion, in doing a little research, the Red Frog Pub does not serve food on the Miracle.

From reading your other posts, the Chicken Wings were from the Room Service menu with a fee.

I did clear it up after speaking with DH. He ordered them from the Sports Bar next to Red Frog and they brought them over to us in the Pub.

My wife and I were also on this cruise and we completely agree that the main dining room food was not good. We have been on over 20 Carnival cruises, so our expectations were set by other Carnival cruises with the American table menu. There was something just off in the dining room. Items that we had on other ships and enjoyed were just not as good. This was our first cruise on the "left" coast, so we thought that might be it. We heard a lot of people complaining.

There is a lobster and shrimp entree on the CE night menu. There is a rotating Steakhouse entree menu in the MDR for $20, lobster is a choice.

Sorry you had a horrible food experience. The MDR was good in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan and March. Not the American Table but they don't change chefs just because of a new menu. We've enjoyed the AT on the other ships out of LA.

The fish chef must have been cooking it 'correctly' then it sat, continuing to cook. Whoever the fish chef was on our HI cruise did it right, took it off before it was done, allowing it to cook on its own for a bit.

That makes sense, glad they offered food in the sports bar. They only had pretzels and nuts in November

Vegasmommy,

Did you have to pay extra for lobster in dining room on elegant night?

No that is only on cruises of 5 days or less.

Had a similar experience on the Miracle in November. The lido food was consistently horrible, tough beef, lukewarm, limited variety. The MDR was marginal. Some nights good, some nights not so good. Never great. We don't like the Miracle. Tacky 70's Vegas decore. No bells and whistles. Never again.

That's funny, I was on the same cruise as you and I didn't have any issues. In fact, I booked another Miracle cruise while onboard.

Everyone has different tastes and expectations. That's why baskin and robbins makes 31 flavors.

I actually thought the décor was ok, no big deal. Would I cruise the Miracle again, not likely. The only reason we did this time was it was our DD and families first and we could drive to port. Next year we will do the Glory again out of Miami now that we know they loved cruising.
