LMAO!!!!

You believe the media pick stories based on importance or newsworthiness ?

Now that's funny ! Have you actually watched what passes for news these days ?

The truth is most would rather hear this story then about another terrorist attack .

Welcome to the media world of today .

I still stand by my post, even more so after reading the "news" articles. What the hell has journalism come to when message forums and anonymous people are quoted? Such a joke!!! I remember when people used to actually go to school for journalism. Now any moron can cut and paste from the web. That's not news reporting, but it's funny!!! Yeah, my point is proven that it isn't newsworthy, whether or not it's in the news. Trust me, the world in general doesn't give a fat rat's ass that poor Buffy can't drink her Nestle water for 7 whole days of her posh life. Oh the humanity! I realize to you that might be the worst thing you can imagine, but then you don't live in reality.

The fact that people like you are cheering this makes you a part of the problem. Congratulations.

By the way, you should learn how to use the quote function.

I don't believe you bothered to actually read my original response . We both agree this story barely rises to the level of news .

(I put this in bold so you might actually process it)

Secondly your quote has disappeared probably because it was an attack , sort of like this current post of yours .

Perhaps you should try to actually read others peoples posts .

"Well it proves one thing, Mr. Hooper. It proves that you wealthy college boys don't have the education enough to admit when you're wrong.";)

It's not a big deal to you, I get that, but you seem to underestimate how big a deal it is for others (and I would say that NCL made the same mistake:)). Right, wrong or indifferent, this is news and NCL deserves what they are getting. Is it stop the press type of news? Nope. But most major news outlets do have entertainment and travel sections and it's certainly worthy of being covered in either one of those sections. (And for the record the policy itself isn't that big of a deal to me although DW will miss bringing on her own coca cola, but the way NCL spun this does bother me.)

Oh no, trust me and everyone else who has been around this forum in the past few days. I certainly don't underestimate how big of a deal it is for others. Good lord. It's impossible not to see that! And that is exactly what I find pathetic. We have one woman that truly believes she will keel over dead if she swallows anything other than Nestle (despite the fact that they have about 80 brands of water that are taken from many different locations, so it's not even close to being the same water bottle to bottle). And then 10 posters pat her on the back "poor thing". Get real! The news should be how completely psycho people can go over the tiniest little inconvenience that will only last a few days of their life. If someone can't sail because they might have to taste Pepsi for a few days instead of Coke, that fool should be the news story!

I did read it, and apparently I completely missed the tone of your first post. That probably explains why the more current one confused me even more. :p

I'll sail NCL again but only if the cruise price is so low that I can be confident even if they make last minute changes , my bottom line will be OK .

Interesting information . If you believe removal or reduction of DSC doesn't harm employees , why won't you do so ?

Our last 2 cruises as well as our upcoming cruise are all Ncl

I got rock bottom prices and great itins out of NYC

We like Ncl entertainment too

But please make no mistake we only picked Ncl because of rock bottom deal...dates and itin

I've cruised much better lines in the past and gotten better service and will only continue to cruise Ncl if it suits me

I'm currently considering several other lines for a future cruise

News covers a broad spectrum and it's meant to cover needs for all... not just a few. Pick up a newspaper at the breakfast table and divvy out the sections based on interests far outdates most anyone on this forum.

I particularly enjoy a variety of news and hope that no one would limit my right to read or not read what all journalists have the constitutional right to compose.

I respect that you have your opinion, but I have mine as well. If you do not like an article, move on to one that peaks your interest - that's what most right minded individuals do.

Great idea, but boxes are expressly excluded. Mind you, many wine bottles in the UK now have screw caps rather than corks...

Maybe they should just replace the term "corkage" with something more accurate?

The term "corkage fee" has nothing to do with actually opening the bottle (at least anymore even though the origins of the term might be) and has been around for ages before cruise lines started charging it.

"While a restaurant may allow you to bring your own wine, it is up to them to decide the fee they want to charge you to do so. While many places charge a corkage fee in the ballpark of $20-$40, the fee can often be much more, which is why it’s good to ask."

Just curious what size cup is at the beverage station?

For health reasons my body needs to stay hydrated.

Pickup one of these babies.

2.2L water bottle

Excellent idea, but you may want to get one with a bigger mouth on it. I'd hate to try and pour into that small hole from a cup and you would never get any ice into it if you wanted any. The cups are about an 8 oz. cup, so you would need many cups to fill it, but once it's full it will last you for quite a long while. Good Luck.

Just wow. This story has exploded all over the media with quotes from this exact thread. The USA Today article has already been posted. But local papers all over Florida also have similar articles highlighting how this puts NCL at odds with all other cruise lines.

OUCH

It went out to all Conde Nast Subscribers yesterday too in their newsletters. That's actually where two friends of mine found out.

Oh how wrong you are about me!!

I could afford crystal and wind star cruises if I wanted....but I just prefer to cruise no frills

I hate butlers etc I hate being fawned over...why?

Because I dont need it and prefer my beachfront home on cape cod and the fact my kids graduated top 8 schools with zero school loans....

So your point is way off if you think that just because I see the game Ncl plays...and the fact that I've purposely not played into their hands...and that for my cruise vacays I prefer to go rock bottom...that I'm a low end cruiser. Lol

Just goes to show what generalizing can do.

Oh and btw....I'm planning to actually buy the water package for my next cruise because I want it and can afford it.....

But I dont really like how Ncl has been doing things lately....so yep I'm looking elsewhere...but I'm no way a lowlife

Oh and I never take the ubp...why? Because I dont drink to oblivion and prefer to pay for my occasional drinks.

Won't go near the casino either.

Boy, am I looking forward to the Debating Society event when I join our NCL cruise in August!

:D

Ha ha ha. Can you imagine? 100 jokers speaking all at the same time, debating each other even the ones they agree with. I am fairly certain Robert's Rules of Order are not being followed. More similar to our ridiculous presidential debates in the US.

I seem to be having a problem with posters who I agree with disagreeing with my comments . I was in NO way implying you are a low end cruiser . My observation was that though you had done multiple cruises with NCL in succession you had no loyalty to them as they have none to you or their other repeat customers . Their goal is certainly not to be the low price leader and yet that's what may very well be happening due to their actions .

You and LrgPizza need to explain to me what I'm doing wrong . :D

I don't think you are alone in your quest to cruise at an acceptable rate. I also like to cruise feeling that I am getting value for my dollars, and have enjoyed NCL for over 45 cruises in the past. The recent money grabbing tactics that Del Rio has used caused me to divert much of my cruising budget to other lines, and I will continue to seek value on all the cruise lines. That will include NCL if the prices are low enough to override the additional charges and restrictions that NCL wants to employ.

A news article brought me to this forum page. I believe it is news when a forum topic generates 1500 (and growing) comments from its members.

BTW, the article wasn't using this fact as background, only to illustrate the outrage and controversy this move by NCL has generated. Lighten up.

"One persons's craziness is another person's reality" (Tim Burton quote) ...

According to Wikipedia ... "Most common topics on forums include questions, comparisons, polls of opinion as well as debates. It is not uncommon for nonsense or unsocial behavior to sprout as people lose temper, especially if the topic is controversial. Poor understanding of differences in values of the participants is a common problem on forums. Because replies to a topic are often worded aimed at someone's point of view, discussion will usually go slightly off into several directions as people question each other's validity, sources and so on."

Can you imagine if the Liquor Beverage Policy restrictions was amended to include "bottles of wine" ... that the only wine you can partake onboard is ones selected and provided by NCL ... AND at the similar rate of mark-up that is currently applied to their sale of bottled water? For myself, that would not be as newsworthy as I do not drink wine ... but I respect that it is for others.

I agree Loralye ... we each have the right to our own opinion. Because as individuals we are all unique in what is important to us. :)

Here's the thing.. it's not so much the money for me.. it's that I'm really picky about the water I drink and the juice I drink. I only drink Mountain Valley Water. I only drink organic juice. The stuff they serve is reconstituted juice mixed with lots of chemicals.

If it doesn't matter to you, then fine. Your choice. But it matters to me. Bottled water isn't all the same. Some is tap water served in bottles. Some is filtered water served in bottles. Mountain Valley is spring water. I don't trust the other water.

I urge those of you who it matters to-- to call, snail mail, and e-mail them to complain. Vote with your feet. That's what I'm doing. I'm a long time Latitude's member, but this is just unacceptable. I'm no longer going to take Norwegian Cruises because I literally will have nothing to drink on board. Please don't just complain on this board, take action.

And btw... the news has hit a number of media outlets including USA Today.
