getaway101 Posted July 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2016 I have been getting some mixed signals here so I thought I would just come out and ask my questions  I thought smoking was always on the port side? Does it change from ship to ship? I am looking at a mini on the Star but they only have one starboard and it is the 1st one. Does anyone know how obtrusive the white canisters are? Also there are 3 on port side, so does anyone know which side of the ship is smoking on the Promenade deck?
-Lew- Posted July 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2016 Don't let smoking be a criteria for cabin selection as smoking is no longer allowed in any cabin or on any balcony.

I am not clear what "white canisters" you are talking about. If you mean the life raft containers, then I don't think they will be an issue to any mini suite. But it could make a difference on smoking allowed on the Promenade deck below the Emerald deck. Just curious if smoking is allowed port or starboard. skynight Posted July 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) I have been getting some mixed signals here so I thought I would just come out and ask my questions :confused:I thought smoking was always on the port side? Does it change from ship to ship? I am looking at a mini on the Star but they only have one starboard and it is the 1st one. Does anyone know how obtrusive the white canisters are? I'm really not sure what you mean by "1st one" and also don't know what you mean by "white canisters." Yes, smoking areas are not exactly the same on every ship. The ship designs are not all the same. But, no Princess ship allows smoking on an entire side of the ship. Outdoor smoking locations on all Princess ships are very limited and are at specific small locations. Smoking is not allowed on balconies and in cabins, on any Princess ship. Outdoor smoking areas on the Star Princess are very limited and are: A small standing area on the Promenade deck starboard aft outside the Vista Lounge where the Promenade narrows. There is a cigarette disposal unit attached to the wall in that location. It isn't the entire deck only that specific small area. An area on the Horizon Terrace, deck 10, on the port side with some tables. A small area just to the port side of the Tradewinds Bar on Deck 15 with some tables. Cigar and Pipe smoking are only allowed in Shooter's Bar deck 6 forward. Smoking is also allowed in the Casino, which is smoke free some evenings. Hope this answers your concerns. getaway101 Posted July 9, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted July 9, 2016 Thank you so much, yes that does help. Do you know if half of the casino on the Star is non-smoking? I have been on several Princess ships where it is half non-smoking, but don't want to just assume it is on the Star.

On our Regal cruise they were smoking on both sides of the promenade deck. ;)

I think it's a fleet-wide policy.

The smoke knows no barrier and will pervade the entire casino.
