How many to debark with Platinum?

We have been asked to show our S&S cards at the designated debarkation waiting area. Those that were not Platinum nor Diamond nor their cabin mates were directed elsewhere.

If you want to make sure that everyone makes their flights, it might be best to arrange shuttle transportation for your family members.

On our last two or three cruises, we have been asked to show our Platinum card before we were allowed into the elevator, after being led there from the gathering area. No platinum card = no elevator ride at that time.

Kind of wondering, how did all these people get onto the ship? How did the airport people get to the ship? Did they board as small groups at various times? These people are adults and all but 3 have cruised (guessing the infant is one), so leaving the ship is not new to them. What's the need to get them all off using your platinum status?

I've also been wondering about this. We're sailing with my parents (we're plat, this is their first Carnival cruise). We're driving to the port together. Is it really going to be that big of a deal if they disembark with us?

The real question is, is it really that big of a deal that you wait with them instead? :D

I'm not sure of the OP's answer, only sharing what happened to us late June 2016 Carnival Fantasy / port of Miami.

Following the early departure self-assist instructions I received in my stateroom the night before departure, I got our group of four heading to the show lounge for self-assist early departure. Two members of our group were first time cruisers. I got to the show lounge entrance to see many people had arrived to the show lounge before us.

One member of our party asked why we don't just walk off the ship like other people were doing. I asked "What other people?" He said people were just walking off back by the guest services desk.

We walked back to the guest services desk area and joined a short line of people then debarked. We were off the ship and through customs at 8:19AM then in a Uber taxi at 8:29AM and on our way to the airport.

I was confused how we go off the ship so early.

Self assist is when you are carrying all your luggage off with you. They are the first off the ship. Self assist is not the same as the FTTF/Platinum/Diamond early debark.

Unless we have a very early flight I just use the #1 tags. Early debarkation with platinum people is a joke. The couple time we used it half the ship was there.

I am pretty sure #1 tags are Platinum/Diamond debarkation. Did you mean the Platinum/Diamond self assist which is supposed to be first off?

Ok this might be a stupid question, I have been platinum for a while now and have never used the priority debarkation, I just get off when I am ready at the normal line, What exactly is it? I thought because you have number 1 you get to get off first or whenever you want after that? Is there a special place you go for priority debarkation? if so do you have to be off the ship early to use this? Thanks

There will be a letter with your luggage tags left in the room on the last or 2nd to last night. It will direct you to the forward dining room or a lounge depending on ship.

But is this option only if you want to get off the ship early? Or can you go to this location whenever you are ready to get off?

Thanks

If you don't wish to leave early you can go anywhere you wish, outside of your cabin and depart when you are ready. You don't need to report to that location at all just join the line leaving.

You must be like my grandpa! I think he is the finest man on this planet. (95 and still going strong). And now that my granddaughters are getting older I hope I can be the same to them. At least they thought the tattoo I just got was pretty cool. ;)

Cheers to you, Jimbo, and to perfect Grandpa's everywhere!

Wow this discussion has me very confused! My husband and I are Platinum but have never tried to disembark early. When we cruise with a group we general hang on the ship until every ones number has been called. On our up coming cruise on the Vista we be traveling with 3 other couples that have never cruised before and we all have 12:30 flights from Barcelona to Philly. Does this mean we can go to guest services and ask for #1 luggage tags or do we need to do self assist to get to the airport on one self booked shuttle?

I've always found it amusing that people strategize to be FIRST onboard... Cause they can't wait to start their cruise.

And then they strategize to be first off cause they can't wait to get off the flipping ship.

And yes I know all about flight times and driving home etc.

I just think it's ironic.

Carry on

To answer your question about the Vista cruise specifically' date=' on our cruise they began announcing numbers at 6:30. For some reason in Barcelona, people tended to stay on the ship. I doubt anyone would have an issue with a 12:30 flight. We waited until 10:30 (had a 1:30 flight) and we were at the gate at 11:20. Hope this helps. [/size']

Not slamming, but this is clearly breaking the rules. Priority debarkation is only for Diamond, Platinum and FTTF guests.

If others need to be off the ship early they can do self assist or get a lower debarkation number. I'm sure there are other guests with early flights who would love to get off as soon as possible, but they wait their turn.

totally agree - just follow the rules, if they are in place for folks with platinum, diamond, fttf, etc, why would you think non plat/dia/fttf would be included? we had folks traveling with us who are blue, red, and gold....we tell'em we will meet them on lido and when the cruise is over, tell'em where we will meet them...there are procedures in place for people who book early flights, look into them, thank you.

Don't think you can get 6 early tags, but we always travel with my sister and her husband and guest services will always give them tags to match ours. We also are allowed to bring them to the priority tender with us. Wish I could remember how many we're allowed to bring......... sorry.

Last year my wife and i had zone 1 fttf debark. However we had luggage transfer to airport and were zone 2. Believe it or not wecould not get off at zone 1. The cards would buzz denied. I had to wait for the zone 2. So your s and s card (at least in may 2015) knew what zone you were. Good luck and have a great trip. Dont sweat the small stuff.

This is my problem with your plan. If every platinum thought it was OK to bring 4 to 5 extra people with them, think about how crowded the waiting room for disembark would be. there would not be room for all diamond, platinum, and FTTF people in the room! I would suggest buying FTTF for those not platinum and then there would be no problem. Also, asking for lower zones for those with early flights means those people would disembark right after you.

Pat

There is a problem with your assertion. OP was not asking to bring any 4 or 5 people. Just family members in her party. For your scenario to be an issue, every platinum would have to bring 4 or 5 and that's just not likely to come even close to happening.

I think it's good business for any line to extend such perks in these situations as it makes the loyal cruiser appreciate the perks more and generates interest with those "along for the ride".

Unless my memory fails me they invite you to a special room and when the self assist folks are done they escort platinum + diamond to the exit. I think the #1 are next which include those with early flights etc.

Or, makes the "loyal" cruiser realize their perks really don't mean much! I don't know about you, but many times I have walked into the lounge assigned for disembark and it was full with no place to sit and wait to be called. And yet, many blue, red, and gold cards present. All I'm saying, is if you have many people you want to get off the ship with, then get off with them at the time they are assigned. If their are people in your group with early flights, they can go to guest services and get a low zone for disembark.

#1 tags are platinum and diamond. Also, realize your luggage is in the zone you were assigned.

There is no problem with quickrate's assertion. Do you really think the OP is the only one trying to get 10 family members off using platinum status?
