spookwife Posted August 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2016 WiFi is never free on board ships as the cost of offering it is very high./ that being said depending on which cruise line and cabin category you are in you MIGHT be eligible for a reduced rate, or a few free minutes or something. most people wait until port calls and find hot spots there. on board many apps are barred due to them using so much bandwidth. Krazy Kruizers Posted August 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2016 Ask crew members where they go ashore to use their computers, etc.
kitty9 Posted August 16, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) The only time you'll see free wifi on a cruise ship is if you're one of their frequent cruisers and it's a part of their perks or if you're in their biggest suites. But if you're just an occasional cruiser and you're not in a big suite, you're going to pay big bucks for wifi. Plus, wifi on ships is very, very slow. I see you're on Princess, and you have to be Platinum or Elite status in their Captain's Circle Club to get any kind of free internet minutes. The cost, if you purchase a plan, run $69 for 120 minutes or $99 for 240 minutes. They do have other plans with more minutes. But, because the internet is so slow, you can eat up those minutes very quickly. Also, don't use your cell phone for internet. They cost for that can be huge and you could come home to a phone bill in the four figures. Edited August 16, 2016 by kitty9
luddite Posted August 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2016 To answer accurately we need to know if OP means AT the ship or ON the ship.

Some cruise lines do include complimentary unlimited free wifi (usually one account per stateroom). Oceania is one of those lines. This would mean you had either 5 cruises or 50 days on Princess prior to this cruise.
