kangforpres Posted August 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Hi- Just booked a 10 Day Mexican Rivera on the Grand Princess RT SF. Really looking for a cruise that will begin and end just with an Uber trip across the Bay Bridge. I really wish HAL and others would give SF more business but I'm grateful Princess home-port's there. -Paul
KirkNC Posted August 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2016 We have done several Princess cruises and enjoyed them. Be on the lookout for the cookie girls around 4:00....yum :p
OlsSalt Posted August 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Avoiding long trips to the departure port is a good thing.
dakrewser Posted August 29, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2016 We cruised both Princess and Celebrity from SF when we lived in Sunnyvale. It was great not having to get on a plane, but I've never seen such confusion as when we disembarked - worst cruise experience ever.
dchip Posted August 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2016 We love the Grand and cruising from our home port. We take a Mexican Riviera cruise every year that we can. We now have a new terminal, Port 27, which has made both embarkation and disembarkation a breeze!! Enjoy! Denise
Tarpeian Rock Posted August 30, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2016 Been on the Grand twice. A little larger than we'd like, but had a good time. Best feature is the International Café -- really great. Also fun to experience the "whale's mouth" at the bow. The best enrichment speakers we've ever experienced were on the Grand. canadianbear Posted August 30, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2016 I'm sure you will have a wonderful time! We've only tried Princess once and loved it. We will certainly book with them again when it fits our schedule.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 30, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2016 We have sailed on the Grand Princess -- twice before her "redo" a couple of years ago. Loved the ship. Hope you like her as well.
Rare Lady Arwen Posted August 30, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2016 Love Grand Princess and I love the Princess product as a whole. Never, ever had a bad cruise with them. Our first cruise in 1989 was Princess. International Cafe is just terrific!
JimAOk1945 Posted August 30, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2016 Princess is a great cruise line. We haven't done the itinerary you're going on but plan to sometime in the future. Happy sailing!
Rare Tom O. Posted August 30, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) We cruised Princess exclusively for many years. We were very happy with Princess. But we have now switched over to HAL simply because Princess ships were getting too big for us. We prefer ships with less than 3,000 passengers. The Grand is a perfect size ship for us along with her sisters, The Golden, The Diamond, and The Sapphire Princess. All take around 2,600 passengers. However the other ships of this class have an extra deck of berths and carry around 3,100 passengers. They are The Star, The Crown, The Caribbean, The Emerald, and The Ruby Princess. These are too big for us. And of course their newest ships the Royal and Regal Princess are even bigger. Edited August 30, 2016 by Tom O.
