The Future of Carnival's Entertainment

Their entertainment is awful. I just got off Conquest yesterday and I've seen better performers at the local amusement park ranked up as one of the best. So many flat notes and just cheesy. I never was bothered by the shows before but it's the SAME stuff in other activities. I did MSC in Europe last year and the shows were great. The fact they can get Cirque to partner and handle their new shows on a ship up and coming? Why can't carnival??

Was on the Glory late December/Early January and the shows were all great.

We liked the live shows on our Dream cruise last February (loved Dancin' In The Streets) and the break dancing routines the dancers did in the atrium on the last evening. I've been looking forward to seeing what these Playlist Production shows are like when we sail on the Freedom. Looks like with the Hasbro show a couple nights, Love & Marriage one night, this lipsynch battle one night, Welcome Aboard show one night, and a possible Farewell show one night, not going to be much room for the Playlist. Which will save Carnival from having to pay professional performers. Just my opinion....

Considering Carnival's latest attempts at entertainment on a shoestring budget (lip syncing, etc., which would you consider the best approach?

Given all the cuts, including the emphasis on passenger "do-it-yourself" entertainment and the cuts to professional (and I use even that term loosely) entertainment, I no longer book Carnival at retail rates--only drastically reduced or free casino offers or casino Premier cruises. I usually cruise by myself, and the value is no longer there paying 200% (even for a 1A upper/lower) of Carnival's retail rates.

On our July cruise on the Magic, the entertainment was great! Even had some standing ovations. Guess entertainment is like food and other thing....just a matter of preference.:D

I had the same experience as you did on your cruise. Entertainment was great. I was ENTERTAINED and didn't go into the show like some stuck up Broadway snob, looking to criticize the performers. People seem to forget, they are on a cruise ship, not at a Broadway play. Some people need to lighten up, sheesh

I really enjoyed the shows on the Triumph. Were they Broadway or Vegas quality? No. But they were definitely better than the Playlist production shows you see on other Carnival ships. The shows on the Triumph still had a house band and two featured vocalists.

We agree, the shows on the Triumph were very well produced and performed. Much better than Playlist shows.
