tallyho8 Posted September 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2016 When you are boarding a cruise ship in New Orleans, at security, and are wearing a suit, do you have to remove your suit jacket and put it through the xray machine?

tallyho8 Posted October 1, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted October 1, 2016 How many rum runners can you get in your jacket? Lol Not as many as I can get in my suitcase but the reason for this question is because I am going to a wedding and don't want my jacket to get messed up. Carnival_Brides Posted October 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) Not as many as I can get in my suitcase but the reason for this question is because I am going to a wedding and don't want my jacket to get messed up. If it is in a garment bag, it should be enough to just send the garment bag through the scanner. When we got married on the Pride we had to send our gowns (and the dismantled luggage rack!) through the scanner. They didn't make us remove them from the bags, but they obviously reserved the right. cruzelover55 Posted October 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2016 I find the waiting area at the port chilly and just had a VERY light windbreaker on, and they made me take it off and send it through the exray belt.

Normally not, just empty the pockets.
simplelife Posted October 1, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2016 They may ask you to remove it. If you are concerned with keeping it fresh, put it in a garment bag instead of wearing. Any number of things could happen when you are wearing it on the flight)someone spills a drink, etc) Sent from my iPad using Forums
Miss Kellybean Posted October 1, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 1, 2016 Not as many as I can get in my suitcase but the reason for this question is because I am going to a wedding and don't want my jacket to get messed up. I was the bride on a cruise and I had to put my gown through the machine. Of course, it was in a hanging bag so that is a little different. The gents that were wearing their jackets did not have to remove them. Those carrying them had to go through the machine.
Micahs Grandad Posted October 1, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2016 Can go either way but you will have to empty pockets for sure
BallFour4 Posted October 1, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) I fly with a suit on every week and don't see how a scanner can wrinkle the jacket. What are you wanting to hide? . Edited October 1, 2016 by BallFour4

I must not have read carefully, because I thought you meant the airport. Still, for the ship I think it would use the garment bag. Anything could happen between the time you board and the wedding. fireofficer5 Posted October 1, 2016 #13 Share Posted October 1, 2016 Wear it and walk through the metal detector. Use a plastic flask.
SOMEBEECH Posted October 1, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 1, 2016 I would wear it. My biggest concern would be that it would get caught on something within the scanner. When I fly with a suit on I just wear the jacket. Sent from my iPad using Forums
firemanbobswife Posted October 1, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 1, 2016 Maybe you could bring it hung up in a dry cleaning bag and put it on after security.
tallyho8 Posted October 8, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted October 8, 2016 The letter we received from Carnival stated to come to the ship "fully dressed". Naturally, the bride and groom don't have to come fully dressed as they will have time to dress in their cabin.
RjayB Posted October 8, 2016 #17 Share Posted October 8, 2016 .... When I fly with a suit on I just wear the jacket. ... You must be pre-check then? In the standard TSA lines all jackets must be removed. It's all just a big show, but that is a topic for a different forum :p
