RCL Radience, NZ, dock vs tender, exact formal nights, compass

Recommended Posts

Ports: Auckland, Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, Picton on RCL Radience. Do we always dock? When are formal nights? does anyone have a link to a cruise compass? Thanks!

You won't dock at Picton, you will dock Auckland and Wellington, your itinerary should show.

As for formal night that can change from cruise to cruise however as a general rule

Not first of last nights (luggage issues)

More likely to be a sea day, but not always, if not usually an early departure port.

All of those ports mentioned should be docked. only Akaroa would be tendered. Especially if it is this sailing.

If it is this cruise it is most likely to be day 2 and day 9 as the formal nights.

that's very helpful and good commonsense so I can use for all future cruises!

We docked at Napier, Wellington, Picton and Dunedin on Voyager which is much larger than Radiance. Auckland and Tauranga both docks as well.

Picton was at the logging wharf with shuttle buses into town. The only problems with some these ports are the windy conditions and seas. So some cruises are unable to get into the ports.

If you come into Picton early, try to see at first light cruising in the Marlborough Sounds. It is just magical with the sun coming up from the darkness over the mountains, clouds/mist like waterfalls and water smooth as silk Well it was when we were there!
