Travel_Lover28 Posted October 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2016 There is probably a thread on this but can't find a recent one. Is it doable to fly out at 11 AM at FLL after a cruise from Port Everglades?
cheeseclan Posted October 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2016 Yes but we never book a flight before noon. That is just in case there are problems when getting off the ship. Once we were delayed and did not get off until 10. No way would you make an 11. Going thru customs getting off the ship is a long line and then going thru TSA at airport is NUTS. Be prepared to hustle to get to the airport in time. you should be okay but one never knows.

fishywood Posted October 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2016 (edited) If your ship arrives at 7:00 (or earlier) the recommended earliest flight is 10:30 by many of the cruise lines, though Princess recommends 11:00. The RCI Oasis-class ships start disembarkation around 6:15 and there are plenty of reports of those passengers making 9:30 or even earlier flights (though I wouldn't try it even if the flight was free). So you should be fine but various factors you neglected to share such as ship's scheduled arrival time, which terminal at Port Everglades, and what day of the week you are disembarking will determine the degree of stress accompanying your morning. Nebr.cruiser Posted October 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2016 We've made a 10:30 flight with no problems, but there is no guarantee; any glitch with arrival times, immigration, etc. may upset the schedule. The chance of problems is probably quite small, but it can and does happen.
fredflinstone1234 Posted October 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2016 FLL can be a zoo especially if Allure or Oasis are in port. Best to hand carry your luggage off the ship if your planning on a 10:30 flight. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
fishywood Posted October 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2016 FLL can be a zoo especially if Allure or Oasis are in port. Best to hand carry your luggage off the ship if your planning on a 10:30 flight. But if they are on Allure or Harmony (Oasis moves to Port Canaveral next month) they will be the first ones at FLL even if they do not do walk-off. And even if they are not with an 11:00 flight they might still be better off being in the first "color tag" group off their ship rather than in the scrum of walk-offs; they could make it to FLL by 9:30 with ease. JohninDC Posted October 20, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2016 11:00 should be okay - I would try to get to FLL NLT 9:00 - check-in and TSA lines at FLL are often chaos. :( The taxi ride from PE to FLL takes about 15 minutes - you should have no problem making the airport by 9:
DaveOKC Posted October 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2016 It somewhat depends - on how early you get off the ship and how many other ships are in port. Also having TSA pre-check and airline VIP status helps. We normally get off right away and have been at the airport GATE from 8:30-9:30 AM. OCruisers Posted October 20, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2016 We wouldn't book a flight prior to 11 AM. You should be OK. :)
