I wasn't too keen on the new loccitane products compared to the previous ones,or the new Geurlan ones either. When we were on August/end September it was the best service we have had, just perfect in every way. Have a wonderful cruise and look forward to your reports. Jean. Weather is very poor so no deck games but a choice of the following organised events: Lectures/Seminars: Smithsonian X 2; Future Cruises; Boutique seminar; Spa seminar Games: Bridge lessons & play; Mah Jongg; indoor golf; darts; bocce; chess; bingo; trivia; treasure hunt Casino: poker tournament; slot tournament Other: ballroom-cha cha lesson; needlepoint; wine tasting; interdenominational service Tonight is the Captain's Welcome Reception (unusually on the third night). Tonight's entertainment in the theatre is a visiting show pianist, Ryan Ahern. I just wish they would do destination lectures instead. On our South America trip in January it's more military stuff and politics. I'd love to hear about the history of the areas we're visiting instead. They've never been good at that, except when Terry Breen is onboard. We too enjoy presentations on a relevant theme, though I'm actually quibbling about the quality of some of the presenters who are engaged under the Smithsonian banner as well. I agree, the Smithsonian lecturers have been poor to mediocre at best compared to previous 'independent' lecturers who were generally much better. The Smithsonian lecturer on board at present has some good topics (the history of European settlers into Canada & New England and the effect on indigenous peoples), but his presentations can be confusing with indistinct visual aids Another good meal in CR last night - we both had the steamed lobster which was plentiful and yummy A very rocky night due to high winds & rough seas; we are missing the port of Sydney today due to the adverse weather; hope that conditions improve for Halifax tomorrow As it is another day at sea the Exec Chef is arranging an Asian themed lunch in La Veranda :) Edited October 24, 2016 by flossie009 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not only is this our first Regent cruise, this is our first EVER cruise. First touristic purchase of our vacation............a bottle of maple syrup Just leaving port now as I pen this; Captain says that it may be a bit bumpy again tonight as he will have to be at full speed to reach our next stop, Saint John - our last port of call in Canada...........then we head down to Portland, Boston and New York We still love the Mariner and hope they do not spoil her during the refurb next Spring...................if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
