Adventure of the Seas Drydock - Any updates?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Worries me too, I sail November 26th. I actually would have booked another cruise if I had known at the time it would be right after drydock since I've heard sometimes the ship isn't done in time & they're still working on it the first several sailings. Of course by the time I found out hotels & flights were already booked & it was a done deal. Oh well, I'm hoping for the best, will drink enough piña coladas to make anything fun & will take any future cruise discount they want to give me!

Will you please post how the ship was with the work happening during sailing? We sail on 12/3/316. Thanks.

One last picture of the future cruise certificate that was in our cabin upon arrival:

IS this for just this cruise or for future cruises? Will all these updates be completed for my Jan 28, 2017 cruise. Or will we get one of these future cruise cefticates?

My TA talked with RCI a few days ago and was told the 25% discount is only valid for passengers traveling now and in December. We're also booked on the 1/28/17 sailing and don't expect any freebies.

When I first read about the delays in drydock the info indicated that even I won't get anything, and we sail 12/17. Even though things won't be done.

From page two of this very thread...

Here is a summary from the RCL blog with a few more details....

.....

"All guests on Adventure of the Seas sailings departing November 14 - December 3, 2016 will be offered a 25% Future Cruise Credit based on the cruise fare paid."

Yes, the CL is in still in the old location on deck 9. Bruno is the Concierge. He and the waiters in their were great.

Bruno? I thought Ryno was still there?

Casino????

By chance did they update any of the slot machines? The ones there were all outdated. Hoping for some more "modern-themed" machines.

I am so sorry (darn auto correct).... yes it is Ryno in the CL. None of the machines in the casino were updated.

No rust on balcony. Bathrooms do not look like they have been updated. Windjammer chairs and tables look updated.

What about the MDR chairs? They were in really bad condition on the Oct. 8-16 sailing (last one before refurb). We were on the 5th deck with the cream wood/blue chairs....needed to be replaced.

Would someone be willing to post pictures/scans of the Cruise Compass from either 12th sailing or 19th sailing?

Would love to see them before we hop on board in a couple weeks.

Thanks!

We board on 11/26 and I plan on saving all the daily Cruise Compass printouts. Will try to post them on the Dec. 4th or 5th.

We are on the 12/9 sailing. I am pretty bummed - have enjoyed Chops on the Anthem and Quantum and was looking forward to it, and to Izumi, which we loved to break up the monotony a bit.

Equally bummed that we are in a GS-category and it sounds like the new lounge won't be open yet. No slides either, and I am an overgrown kid who was planning on trying the darned things.

Would accept the lot for the 25% off, and fingers crossed, frankly, that we get that too, since it sounds to me like unless something drastic changes during this week's sailing, we are in old non-refurbed rooms with a lot of the ship's areas under construction, which isn't what we signed up for when we made final payment.

Fingers crossed, and much thanks to the last round of cruisers for all the great info. Keep it coming!

Good luck with the FCC, still have not been able to get anything in writing from RCI confirming what it is, how it works, etc. after being informed by them over a month ago and sailing last week.

My understanding is that it must be used within a year and cant be used for holidays (which now includes Thanksgiving) even though it was "earned" by screwing up a holiday sailing.

We were booked on the Majesty sailing that was cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew. Our FCC certificate took about 6 weeks to get. I used it this week to book a cruise. The process was very easy. My email said I had to sail within a year, not book. That makes it a little more urgent as far as redeeming. The biggest frustration for me is that the certificates were issued in the name of each passenger, for a specific amount, and can only be applied towards a fare booked in the same name. The cruise I booked was less than the FCC in my name. There is $109 left over, which I have 1 year to use on an additional sailing. Meanwhile, I'm still having to pay out of pocket towards my husband's portion of the cruise because his FCC was less. We're still going from a 3 day in an ocean view to a 5 day in an extended balcony for $300 out of pocket, so I can't complain. I hope all of that made sense...it's 6 days until my student's band concert and my brain is fried at this point.

Thanks for the information, that sounds like what I have been told to expect. Only thing I am waiting to confirm at this point is whether Thanksgiving is definitely an exclusion or not.

Basically the FCC is worthless to me if it is excluded as I book my cruises years in advance so I already have the next year planned and my only RCI cruise next year will be Thanksgiving (maybe ... after AOTS this year I have booked a backup plan and haven't decided whether to cancel yet or not, applicability of FCC likely to be a big part of that decision !!)

I believe the slides might be open for your sailing. The last couple days they have been putting the finishing touches to them. There were 3 guys from a private company working on them yesterday.
