Flight home at 11:55..is it possible

What is the earliest we can disembark on the Conquest in Ft. Lauderdale? This is my first post and first cruise on Carnival. Conquest is due back in Ft Lauderdale at 8. We'd like to book an 11:30 flight out of Ft Lauderdale and I'm wondering if we can walk off with our luggage by 8AM? Really don't want to spend the extra money for the FTTF package. Thanks!

Generally, you can make arrangements to get off the ship in the first round of departures if you have any early flight. In some cases the crew will escort you off but remember there are always the possibilities of problems outside of anyone's control. So I would have a good backup plan if you miss the flight.

Would also do self dissembark and plan for taxi to airport. Do that and you should make your flight with time to spare.

Carry your luggare off and you will have no problrm making the flight. The airport is 10 minutes from the port. The time you will be allowed to disembark is not quareenteed. When the ship is cleared, a short time later the debarking process will begin. I use the scheduled ships arrival time and if your allowed to debark earlier its a bonus.

IF you buy FTTF(faster to the fun) and you also carry your bags off the ship you will be in the very first group to leave .

IF you don't buy FTTF and carry your bags off you will be a bit later but still doable. We like getting on and off early so buying FTTF is part of our cruise cost.

That should be no problem at all, even if you experience some unexpected delays. Don't worry on this one. Its easily done.

If you have Global Entry, you can even use a dedicated line at US Customs when getting off the ship!

Should there be no docking problems of ship, your flight schedule is fine when you self debark and take a taxi to FLL.

I think last time we cruised out of FLL, we were in the airport well before 9am. I believe we did self assist.

There is always a chance the ship could arrive late but with FLL I would go ahead and book the 11:30 or 11:55 flight.

 

I've always been to the airport before 9:30 a.m..

We took an 11:55 out of FLL after disembarking from POM and having a car service waiting to transfer us to FLL. So, since you are disembarking from Everglades and flying out of FLL I would say you should have plenty of time. That being said, it is always a roll of the dice with traffic as well as security lines at the airport. For us, it was worth the gamble for the extra $400 savings on airfare! Personal choice, I can only give you our experience. Enjoy your cruise!

Not true. Lots of people have personal experience that others do not. Very often earlier flights are completely doable. Asking here is a great way to gauge the risk.

I would have booked this flight also. The chances are highly in your favor. I would bet that you will be checked in by 9AM...more likely, sitting at your gate at that time.

OP, your flight time "should" be fine. However, since you are taking a flight outside the recommended guidelines, neither the cruise line nor insurance will cover any issues should you miss your flight. If the mega ships are in port, if the crew is undergoing a full immigration check and docking is fog delayed, well...

Did self-Disembark, grabbed a taxi and walked through the airport doors at 8:30 AM.

 

Too bad for us our flight wasn't until 12:45 PM.

 

But yes you will be able to make your flight with time to spare.

That is true yet Carnival and your travel insurance company will stand by their recommended times should there be a delay to deny any claims.

I made a 9:30 AM flight two weeks ago in FLL after Conquest. I had priority debarkation and carried my own luggage off the ship. There is an airport shuttle service (van) right outside the terminal that costs $11 per person. I found them to be pretty fast. I don't normally book a flight that early, but the airline changed my flight time from 11AM to 9:30AM. When you check in online before your cruise, enter your flight time then, and that should get you a #2 debarkation group luggage tag to debark the ship after the cruise.

 

Weather and non-US citizens who do not do what they are supposed to do on debarkation morning can both delay debarkation. Just be aware of that and have a back-up plan if needed.
