the_dylaness Posted November 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Hi all, I haven't sailed with RCI since 2002, my very first cruise, on the Legend of the Seas for 12 days in Australia/NZ, so basically, a newbie. I am select on X which I guess equates to platinum in C&A. We have booked a royal family suite for next October on the Liberty, travelling with nanny and our two kids. We are particularly interested in express embarkation/disembarkation and priority tenders (if we have to tender at all)- will the platinum or the suite take precedence? We also really enjoy full meals (esp breakfast) served in our room- we can do MDR 24 hours a day in this suite, is that correct? Anything else amazing we should know about this suite? We booked it on a total whim yesterday!
schlimazel_traveler Posted November 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Our first cruise EVER was a booked-on-a-whim cruise on the Enchantment in a Royal Family Suite! We got priority embarkation/debarkation, reserved seating in the theater, access to the concierge lounge and the services of the concierge, and the expanded room service menu. It was a very nice experience.
QueenofKrakatoa Posted November 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Being in a suite will definitely take precedence over being Platinum. Also, you'll have access to the concierge lounge. And yes, you will get priority disembarkation both off the ship and for any tenders. The concierge arranges that for you.
gerif Posted November 29, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2016 You can only get MDR meals when the MDR is actually open and serving those meals, not 24 hours. However the fee for room service late night is waived for suites.
knittinggirl Posted November 29, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) On the Grandeur, we got breakfast daily in Giovanne's. The priority disembark was wonderful. We waited in the Concierge Lounge, and the concierge took us by groups in the elevator down to deck 1. No fighting the crowds on deck 4. I think our concierge sent a bottle of wine up to the room. He also contacted us via email about a week before. MiddleAgedDramaQueen had a review of the time they got the Royal Family Suite. They got a tour of the ship and escorted to their cabin upon embarkation. Edited November 29, 2016 by knittinggirl
George C Posted November 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) Really should try breakfast in Giovanni's at least one day, concierge lounge is now the suite lounge on this ship, suite lounge is very large with outside area and is for suite and pinnacle members only . See concierge about tender if needed you will get priority , we goth through embarkation in no time on suite line, disembarkation was also great concierge just walked us off the ship about 8:30 we were through customs and waiting for our ride by 8:45. There is sitting outside but in a bad location 2 decks above the pool, also reserved area for shows including ice skating which is great show, great to skip the lines . Broadway show "Saturday night fever: was also good Edited November 29, 2016 by George C

However, we told the car service taking us to the airport to plan to pick us up around 8am. Is that too early? Should I reschedule for 8:30 or 8:45? Should I reschedule for 8:30 or 8:45? you can get off earlier if you want to carry your own bags, concierge takes suite people off right after that so if you could wait till 8:45 for your car service its must less of a hassle ( we also use car service) what time is your flight and what airport? Hobby is only a 45 min ride add another 20 or 30 mins for other airport, We did this last 3 years from Galveston 2014/2015 on Navigator and this year on Liberty
the_dylaness Posted November 30, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted November 30, 2016 I will definitely check into that review from MiddleAgedDramaQueen, sounds like it might answer a lot of my questions. If just me and DH we are great to carry own bags. Not sure with the whole big group but we shall see. As it is 10+ months away, we have not booked flights. Haven't sailed from Galveston in about 8 years. Didn't know anything about Giovanni's will certainly explore. Will Platinum C&A mean anything if in a suite?
