Watch shopping in the Caribbean

Does anyone recall whether they have seen Alpina watches being sold in any Caribbean Ports? My husband has had his eye on one and I'd like to surprise him, if I could find a good price on it.

These where listed on the Alpina website. I bought a Rolex in St Kitts. All I saved was sales tax.

It was a while ago, I think 2004, dh purchased a Breitling at Carat in St. Maartin. He had researched before and it was a good price.

You would to really know your prices before considering buying anything in the Caribbean. At least that's what I've been told. And you need to be sure it's exactly the same thing model.It may not be a good deal anyways. Unless it's a reputable dealer,I would be wary.

Check Amazon - they have loads of them, probably at the same or better prices, plus you have easy recourse if something isn't right.

Last year I was looking for an Omega watch in the Caribbean. We found the watch in Nassau, but at the end of the day, we found a better price in Windsor Ontario, a 2 hour drive from us. I see you live in Michigan so not sure how far you are from the Windsor/Detroit border, but you might try Abraham's Jewellery in Windsor Ontario to check pricing before you go. The price will be in Canadian dollars so your US Dollars will be at an advantage. Don't forget to add 13 per cent sales tax in Canada when comparing your prices. As well, to reduce the potential duty, you may need to build in a romantic weekend at a hotel in Windsor.
