luddite Posted December 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2016 Why would this be a concern ?
don't-use-real-name Posted December 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 24, 2016 (edited) Is the Ocean FLAT or is it cathode ray cubical ? Maybe it is just that those FLAT screen TVs are not so bad moving about the cabin in the night - Harvey wall head bangers obstructions ! I know there must be a reason - - - - - the OP posted the question ??? I think all the NCL ships have converted to the FLAT screen TVs by this time and with new software can display a whole lot more red ink on your account ! Rare BirdTravels Posted December 24, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 24, 2016 But remember, the flat screen has to fit in the shelf space of a 12" TV, so it is about the size of a computer monitor (my be smaller).

Barb Nahoumi Posted December 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 24, 2016 The regular cabins have been converted to flat screens on the Gem and Dawn. We had them in our balcony cabins on those ships.

Rare mking8288 Posted December 24, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 24, 2016 (edited) Even the "Inside" staterooms on the Spirit had converted a while ago to Flatscreen TV, might not be 1080i HD but adequate for feeding digital signal. See this YT video - fastforward to 1:45, it's mounted high on tthe shelf & tilted down. Monitor is probably 20" or so - bigger than of my travel notebook PC, compact & light for my use @ 11.6" only. Screen "size" is relative as the *Away class ship has bigger HDTV, 22" to 24" diagonal. Just upgraded our home's desktop monitors as prices are way down, although a 22" or 24" is more than enough for most users. Alas, the latest buzz - VR and pixel smartphone for 3D experience in an armchair - noise isolation/cancelling ear-bud for surround sound-like audio.
