US customs computer outage - nightmare for travelers

Glad the outage didn't last too long, though the inconvenience was long enough for those directly affected.

Don't know if this has ever happened to a cruise ship; but on a flight from London we once were diverted due to weather from landing in Chicago to Detroit. All the Customs and Immigration folks had gone home for the day. We had to stand in line while the airport frantically placed calls to get enough of them back in to clear us! Never can tell what might happen when you travel.

"No announcements were made at the airport explaining the delay..." This is the unforgivable part.
