Bus to Maho?

We will be in St. Maartin at the end of next week and would like to go to Maho Beach to watch the planes. We take buses in Grand Cayman & Grand Turk but don't know where to get the bus to go to Maho beach.

Are they close to the port? How much does it cost?

Thanks for your answer!

You can catch the bus in the center of town on Back Street. Cost is $2 each way. The bus is a minivan with a sign that will say Maho or Mullet Bay in the front window. easiest way is to take the water taxi into the center of town. Walk directly back to the second street. First is Front St, Second is Back Street. Flag down a bus and be on your way. Pay as you leave the bus. To return, look for bus marked P'burg.

Just a note......allow yourself plenty of time to return to the ship!! Traffic in the afternoon can sometimes be awful and I don't know how many stops the bus has to make on the way back.

You will enjoy Maho.....have a wonderful cruise!!!

Or you can take a van taxi that will pick you up at the circle station just behind the shops at the pier for $8 one way per person and is direct to Maho and back. They usually will take about 6 passengers per van. This avoids the need to get into town first. The ride is about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. They also are stationed for return in a lot across the street from the Sunset Bar & Grille at the beach adjacent to the end of the runway. The advantage with the taxi is coming and going at your schedule.

Most of the plane activity occurs between about 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM. As mentioned, traffic can get a little heavy in particular in the afternoon returning to the pier. Allow extra time for that - maybe 45 minutes for the return. We typically will come back and have the taxi drop us off in town, shop, and then take the water taxi back to the pier.
