Which cruise would you choose?

I am looking at 7 day cruise for end of July and beginning of August 2018.

 

#1 - Norwegian Fjords

roundtrip from Southampton

4 Norwegian ports

 

#2 - Mediterranean & Adriatic

Athens to Barcelona

2 Greece ports, 2 Italy ports

 

Would it be too hot at that time of year for the Med & Adriatic cruise?

Out of all the cruises we have done (and we have done plenty lol) the Norwegian fjords were spectacular (much better in my opinion than Alaska) I would take that cruise in a heartbeat.

Both would be great. I have not been to the fjords (going next year). So I would pick that.

If I were to choose the Norwegian costal trip again it would be Hurtigrute, round trip from Bergen. A supply ship/passenger experience that provides more insight in to coastal living in Norway than any cruise ship experience. With all the comforts you would want in accommodation and meals. No casino or large theatre. And I've done lots of regular cruises and love them too. And love to gamble as well. But the closer connection, in comfort, to the Norwegian experience through one or more of the daily departure Hurtigruten ships from Bergen beats them all.

For Alaska, Alaska Marine Highways, out of Bellingham,Washington, or anywhere in ports en route (none inBC) is similar ( supply/passenger ships) but more rustic, fewer amenities, coastal village visits at all hours for delivery as opposed to passsenger convenience, a great experience to in its own right.

We have done neither but want to do both. Given the choice of only one or the other we would likely choose the Norwegian Fjord cruise.

Tough choice. I would definitely prefer the Sapphire, but I enjoyed our Med cruise so much, I would always recommend that. Norway is spectacular, too. Flip a coin? :)

I've done both and it would be an easy choice for me: definitely the Norwegian Fjords.

Which ports in Italy and Greece? I personally would pick the Norwegian one because, I haven't been there. But with that being said I absolutely love Athens and would go back in a heart beat. It's one of my top 5 foreign cities.

Yes, the Med will be very hot during that time of the year.

Have done the Med and the Norwegian Fjords is on our bucket list. For that time of year I would definitely pick the Fjords.

Years ago, I had a retired cruise ship captain as a patient. When I asked what his favorite cruise itinerary was. Without hesitation, he said the Norwegian fjords.

The Sapphire itinerary looks very nice for 7 nights and you should have a great Norwegian experience with that. 7 nights in the Med is so little time in each port that you only see the highlights and you will miss so much.

 

We went to Norway last June and had a wonderful trip. We've sailed in the Med many times. If you can only swing 7 nights, then I would do Norway now and try to do a longer Med cruise in the future.

Given the time of year, I would do Norway.

 

We did it as part of a B2B with the Baltic and loved it!!!

 

We have been to the Med several times and in July / August, UGH!!! That would be rough.

We did both this year though both 2 weeks long. The Med will be very hot for touring. The fjords should be perfect that time of year.
