Cruise Deposit Refundable

Recommended Posts

Would someone please confirm that a cruise deposit is fully refundable if you cancel before final payment is due? We have friends who have never cruised and may join us this fall. I'm encouraging them to book now, under the belief that they can cancel later and not lose any money. Want to be sure that I'm giving them good advice since I've never done it myself. Thanks.

Confirmed. Travel agents may charge their own cancellation fees but Royal does not.

Edit. Applies to North American bookings.

I'm in the UK. Lost a deposit twice. Once when I changed the ship I wanted to cruise on. And just this last week when I cancelled a cruise leaving in August this year. Both times full deposit that I had paid was lost. Guess it's different for UK bookings

That's correct.

To that, IMO I would avoid booking through a TA that charges any seperate fee not charged directly by the cruise line for originating, modifying, or canceling a booking made through them. There are those that do but many that do not. Ask those questions first before booking.
