Rare sparks1093 Posted January 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2017 Special thanks to Mysticks1 on the Celebrity Cruises forum for this idea. I would like to begin to assemble one for CCL. To the moderators, I would appreciate if we could make this a "sticky" at the top of the page for all to see. I have seen this on other forums also and it seems to be useful. Please, refrain from posting cabin questions here so this can purely be an informative thread, especially for those that are first time cruisers or seasoned cruisers looking for a great cabin. The template is as follows: Ship - Deck - Stateroom # - Stateroom Category – Starboard or Port Side - Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Was wind a problem? - If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - Any other comments? -

ryano Posted January 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2017 Ship - Magic Deck - Lido Stateroom # - 10204 Stateroom Category – 4J Starboard or Port Side - Neither. Fwd Quiet Stateroom? – Yes, very quiet Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Loved the location and being on Lido deck. Also loved having a big window at an inside cabin price. Somewhat obstructed but great view. Wind only a problem if you go outside to the "secret" deck while the ship is moving. The cabin is all the way fwd so motion may be an issue for some but we loved it. Definitely recommend the 4J cabins on Magic.

The elevator cove was in front of the cabin so no long walks to them. The aft lido buffet was just a few steps (and a few decks) above us. The gate latch to the balcony would also jiggle open in rough seas, so make sure to take something with you to tie it shut as it will slam pretty loud. Or just use a bathrobe belt like we did to tie it shut. Any other comments? -

Any other comments? - The obstructed view consisted of a platform extending about 20-30 feet from the stern. This only prevented us from looking directly down into the sea. Our beautiful wake view was still completely visible beyond that. We deliberately chose a cabin in the Family Harbor area even though we were traveling without children. It was very roomy and comfortable, had double closets and a large sofa. We loved having the perk of the Family Harbor Lounge available to us for grabbing a very nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausages, various cereals, waffles, fruit, pastries, etc., or just cup of coffee in the morning, sandwiches and cookies midday, or a soft swirl and cappuccino in the evening. This cabin was a great choice for us.

(With comments on problems) – the room was very quiet. When looking on the map, there is a blank area to one side. I found out one day what this is the hard way. The black area are cabins for entertainers. We had several comedians on that cruise and that is where they stayed. One afternoon I was not feeling well and wanted a nap. Well no go because the 2 comedians were literally on their beds with doors open talking to each other. One had a very deep voice and when he laughed the room almost shoot. besides this very quiet. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no Any specific problems with this cabin? - as someone else mentioned, there is only one outlet by the desk. I like to charge my phone overnight and use it as my alarm clock so I had to charge as much during the time I was in the room. I never had a full battery lol. Also I found that once the twin beds turned into a king, you still had to sleep on the twin. I thought there would be something put in the middle to bridge the gap but no. I was solo and was excited for a nice big bed. No luck there :( Any other comments? - I like being close to the front. The only time I go aft is dinner and pool or comedy shows. Plus its good to get some movement in during your cruise lol

The elevator isn't the problem, it's the fact that the atrium is open to the 6th deck, and the noise from things going on down there spills through until about 11 or 1130 each night. Luckily the sound didn't bother us too bad. Putting towels under the door and opening the bathroom door to kind of block the sound help.
