skc2116 Posted January 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Does anyone know if Celebrity has diet tonic on board, and if not do they have any problem with a passenger bringing it on. Thanks. We have the drink package and I'm used to bringing my own because it's not usually stocked.
Elusive_Cruiser Posted January 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Not the last time I checked (Jan-16), but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Drinking a DT myself, at this moment!!
skc2116 Posted January 21, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Thanks, figure I'll bring it. They don't let me bring it on board, no big deal.
tine-tine Posted January 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2017 We too drink Diet Tonic and it is freely available on board in all bars. If they run out they will restock but you might have to wait until they go to another bar. Comes in bottles, larger than the very small uk size and is usually Schweppes. sbrayr Posted January 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2017 I have never been able to get diet tonic to onboard Celebrity. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Grandma Rambo Posted January 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2017 We haven't always been able to get it, either. I need to drink about 8 oz a day for muscle spasms. You can bring your own, true, but we are flying to PR for our cruise, so cannot take it on the airplane. Diet tonic is not distributed to PR, per the soda companies, so we cannot purchase it there and bring it on. I sent an email to Celebrity and they responded by sending a link to Special Needs form for wheelchairs. Any suggestions, anybody?
lovescarborough Posted January 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Always had diet tonic on Constellation two weeks ago. In the past I have sometimes been told they didn't have it but a polite request to get it from another bar usually works.
wendychloecruiser Posted January 21, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Sometimes you have to call it "Slimline" tonic.
ontariocruisers6882 Posted January 21, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2017 For those who need to have it for the quinine, why not bring quinine pills for the cruise just to be safe? Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Grandma Rambo Posted January 21, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 21, 2017 For those who need to have it for the quinine, why not bring quinine pills for the cruise just to be safe? Sent from my iPhone using Forums I used to take them by prescription until the FDA banned them except for use in malaria. Potentially dangerous drug. The last time we were on Summit and there was none on the entire ship.
cmalagngl Posted January 21, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Diet tonic was available on the Equinox this past September in all bars we went to.
Ozzmund Posted January 21, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 21, 2017 My wife enjoyed diet tonic on our November Equinox cruise. While we didn't hit every bar, I do know it was available at the Ensemble Lounger, Mast Bar, Sunset Bar and the Casino Bar.

That bottle would weigh about 2kg or about 4.4lbs which certainly impacts packing limitations. A 2L bottle would last you 8 days. I hope you don't mind me saying and it's none of my business and I'm sure you are aware of this but there certainly isn't much quinine in 8 ounces of tonic water, about 20mg. The therapeutic dose of Quinine prescribed prior to the FDA banning it due to the potential of significant side effects was 200-300mg. To get this amount you'd have to drink in excess of 2L a day. But if drinking 8oz a day helps you then why not. Quinine does have some significant interactions with MANY drugs. tine-tine Posted January 22, 2017 #16 Share Posted January 22, 2017 I thought quinine had been removed from tonic water and taste artificially added?
Grandma Rambo Posted January 22, 2017 #17 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I do realize that I'm getting a very small amount of quinine, but it's the only way and having to have sugar free due to diabetes complicates the issue. It does reduce the excruciating torso spasms, but not completely eliminate them as the pills did. My experience was on Summit three different cruises and we were told there was none in any bars on the ship. Boarding in NJ is great, as we just carry it on. I will follow your advice and look into packing a liter in our checkin luggage. It just seems strange. Doesn't anyone on a diet drink gin and tonic? Why don't they market it in PR? Canada Dry and Schweppes both said they do not have it in PR. Many thanks, Jennie

Tiggertastic Posted January 22, 2017 #19 Share Posted January 22, 2017 They mix between Canada Dry in some bars and Schweppes in others on our last 3 trips. Did 3 different ships in 2016 and all had diet tonic in every bar Sent from my iPad using Forums

Tiggertastic Posted January 6, 2018 #22 Share Posted January 6, 2018 We just got off and yes I had diet tonic at every bar other than the one outside the future cruise desk. It’s Canada dry at present Sent from my iPad using Forums
Spartan1771 Posted January 6, 2018 #23 Share Posted January 6, 2018 We are currently on the Reflection and have been drinking diet tonic all week. It seems like all of the bars stock it on the ship.
