No...the "final payment DATE" is when the "restrictions go into effect.

No, regardless of how much you put down now, you follow all the same "deadlines" as if you only paid the minimum deposit. However, it won't make a difference to how quickly your room is assigned.

The only thing that comes to mind that you would lose if you pay in full is the ability to transfer the booking to a travel agent.

With RCI you only have 90 days to transfer to a TA. They don't say it anywhere that this rule can easily be found

I do guarantees all the time and in my experience, they usually assign cabins quickly, usually in two weeks or less. If you book around final payment, I've cabin assignments within a day.

Full payment on a GTY booking has no bearing on the cabin assignment.
