Always Cruising Posted February 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2017 The Administration Fee on a booking for September has the fee for guest 1 and 2 reduced to $140 (7 day cruise) after I requested the change, but the other guests in the room are at $260. My NCL agent told me that the reduced fee is only for guests 1 and 2 - has anyone else had experience with this? Thanks in advance

emsiam Posted February 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Just Administration Fee. Our admin fee is 200 for the first two how do you get it dropped in cost
khaide612 Posted February 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2017 As far as I know, the Admin Fee is the reduced CAS cruise fare - that's how it has been on all my invoices. And yes the reduced fare is usually only for guests 1-2 and then they give a discount for guests 3-6. emsiam - you don't get it reduced. It changes from cruise to cruise. KarimaJ Posted February 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2017 The Alaska cruise I booked 2 weeks ago was $140 for the first 2 guests. Would have been the same if I did Bermuda (Breakaway) or Caribbean (Escape). I only priced those 3 cruises but I would have had to pay full for the 3rd person. cuterlmt Posted February 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2017 When I did my reservation earlier this month, the CAS rep told me it was $20 per person per day, for a total of $140 for a 7 day cruise.
jaja Posted February 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Just emailed my CAS rep...she said I would have to rebook to get new reduction in fees....Has anyone gotten it on existing reservation?
mi3stooges Posted February 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Hmmmm... I know someone on a CAS cruise and they told me there was no Admin fee....that all the taxes, port chgs etc is what it was  It sounds a bit fishy
Alegeeter Posted February 15, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2017 We called and got our admin fee adjusted to the new $20/day rate. But we were greater than 90 days out so there was no penalty if it counted as a cancel and rebook. Our promotions stayed the same too. As for 3rd and 4th guest - you do pay the current rate for 3rd and 4th passenger. However, if your sailing qualifies for the 3rd/4th Free promotion, you're still able to choose that and only pay taxes and port charges.
designergirl Posted February 15, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Does anyone know if this lower administration fee applies to cruises booked with Casino certificates from casinos like Caesars or Harrahs?
cuterlmt Posted February 15, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Mine was from a land based casino. So I assume it would apply to all.

Always Cruising Posted February 15, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Emsiam - you have to cancel and rebook to get the lower admin fee for guests 1 and 2 - so good to check what you might lose from your original booking before doing it. At least, that's what my CAS rep told me. That was stated above, too - but wanted to answer your question about my experience.
Always Cruising Posted February 15, 2017 Author #15 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Alegeeter - I have a cruise booked with 3rd and 4th sailing free, but with 5th and sixth pax paying current 3-6th fare. Do you think the 3rd and 4th should have no administrative fee? Would love to save a little $$!

Do you think the 3rd and 4th should have no administrative fee? Would love to save a little $$! I checked an old invoice and we didn't have an admin fee for the 3rd passenger using the KSF promo last year - just paid taxes and fees which were the same for all in the cabin. jaja Posted March 11, 2017 #20 Share Posted March 11, 2017 Not sure if this has been addressed somewhere...but when I called CAS re: price drop /rebook....I asked about the new administration fee....(my cruise is at $250 pp). Was told that the new $20pp per day fee is only for those who book with a certificate....NOT ..me who booked with a discount....:(
CRAustin Posted March 11, 2017 #21 Share Posted March 11, 2017 I just booked thru CAS last week first 2 passengers 180 for a 9 day cruise 3rd passenger (this cruise does not have 3rd n 4th free) was 250. Plus cruise fare of 50. Was wondering why she couldn't explain except the free at sea did not apply to 3rd person we are in a comped suite on the Dawn. rtkenmore Posted October 5, 2017 #24 Share Posted October 5, 2017 Is it just me or does this change really not save all that much in the end? It's my understanding that the TR discount isn't applied on the total cruise fare but on the remainder after deducting the admin fee... So, for example, we have an Escape cruise booked for Thankgiving. The original cruise fare was $1229 and the $200 admin fee was deducted for a before discount fare of $1029. The 20% was then deducted from this figure for a fare of $823.20+$200 = $1023.20 for the final cruise fare. With the new admin fee, it would have been $1229-$140 for $1089 before discount. With the 20% would be $871.20+$140 = $1011.20. So the bottom line difference would only be $12. Am I missing something?

The total ended up being $1000, this would have cost about $2900 for a balcony room. My recent Alaska cruise was only $700 for 2 (inside room). Would have cost over $2000 if I didn’t use CAS.
