sleepyhollow1 Posted February 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Hi! I am trying to fill out the price protection form as my fare was lowered. This is a really stupid question but I need some help-there are two parts at the bottom of the form-they are blue and light blue and they say either you want onboard credit or upgrade and then it says if you pick yes, you could lose your room. I understand all that but here is the question-how do I know if the light blue means yes or the dark blue means yes, and how do I know if the dark blue for upgrade is yes or the light blue is yes? CONFUSED! Can anyone let me know? THANK YOU!
dmdiver Posted February 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Dark blue is your selection. So, if you want OBC, click that one or if you want an upgrade, click that one. The yes/no is if you want to include fares in the price match that allow Carnival to pick your cabin. So, if you don't want to lose your cabin, you would select no, which will turn dark blue. riffatsea Posted February 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2017 I wouldn't bother with the form Just call Carnival and ask for the OBC. MUCH easier!(IMO)
Drazil65 Posted February 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2017 I always call directly, let them figure it out! Works out great!

Cushing985 Posted February 22, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2017 I've had a few price reductions on our up-coming cruise and I thought I'd live dangerously and submit the form. I normally use my PVP but wanted to give her a break and figured how hard can it be. Turns out Carnival really screwed up my booking and in the end I found out Carnival wanted another $140 for a $40 price reduction. I called my PVP and begged for mercy. She couldn't figure it out so she had to get a supervisor on the call. After about a hour she finally fixed it. Both the supervisor and my PVP told me I did everything right but in the future either call Carnival directly or my PVP to handle it. Lesson learned! hishorselover Posted February 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Can someone please explain to me how a price reduction works? Should I just keep looking at the rates every day??
sleepyhollow1 Posted February 22, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted February 22, 2017 I look at the rates every day. And now I will make sure I call carnival for any price drops. WOW!
mjhouse2 Posted February 22, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Call them the form is an auto thing. I did it once and it gave me a different rate than I wanted. I had to call to get them to correct it.
Cushing985 Posted February 22, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Can someone please explain to me how a price reduction works? Should I just keep looking at the rates every day?? I look at the rates several times a day as they can change multiple times on any given day. Keep in mind you're only looking at the cruise rate and not the taxes, fee, etc. For encouragement we now have $339.00 in OBC just from price reductions. So, if after checking prices, you feel there is a reduction in the cruise rate for your exact cabin class, call Carnival's 800 line and they'll confirm. We book Early Saver and I think the rules for that program stipulate if the rate goes down prior to final payment date they'll apply the difference toward paying off your cruise. If it's after final payment then the money goes into your OBC.

knowfere Posted February 23, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 23, 2017 If your cabin category sells out, is it possible for the fare to go lower? If so, how would you learn of this since the cabin no longer shows up for mock booking checking? I found what I believe to be the same category, but not sure since the category isn't stated until a deposit is made but it is the same interior cabin type and the price is cheaper

I found what I believe to be the same category, but not sure since the category isn't stated until a deposit is made but it is the same interior cabin type and the price is cheaper If your cabin category is sold out there isn't anything to compare to, so no. I use Carnivals fare checker. Some prefer to do a mock booking. As stated above you must compare base fares, which will be the first amount listed on the right side of Manage/my booking/cruise details/my billing. You might be seeing a guarantee category if you think you found one cheaper.

Animalgirl27 Posted February 21, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 21, 2018 I have a question. We booked the Last Minute VIFP Club Offer for a balcony guarantee. We got assigned 8E and noticed a price decrease. Does anyone know if that qualifies for OBC or an upgrade?

Guarantee rates are not traditional price protection because there is not an exact cabin to match to. You’d have to match to/ enter the guarantee pool again. Herbaltees Posted February 22, 2018 #21 Share Posted February 22, 2018 After I’ve booked, is there somewhere I will be able to see if I have Price Protection? Most rates are eligible for price protection up until final payment. I think the casino rate and super savers are the only ones not eligible. Early saver is the only rate that allows price protection after final pmt. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
