On the Allure this week and noticed all the new lifeguards are wearing polo shirts, pants and sneakers...... i'm sure they can still jump in to rescue someone but........ Just an observation

That's so the job can be given to someone who wouldn't make the cast of Baywatch, and they don't annoy the guests with "did you see the skinny legs/big belly on that lifeguard, ruined my whole cruise". And its not like they are swimming a half mile out to rescue someone.

Trust me. They will jump in like that. I've seen it. Anyone can get lifeguard trained. I'm sure there are many good reasons to have fully clothed life guards, not the least of which is extra sun protection and the ability to quickly switch to another duty when their life guarding time is over.

A lifeguard doesn't replace watching your kids....maybe it's to make parents think that THEY will have to do any rescues!
