So happy to see your review, makes me think of the good times. I am in the slot picture and LCR which I won the first game we played. I also got a tee shirt for the slot pull. Got our group $100. On the wheel. My picture has blonde hair and always from the back.

I was the winner on first day, blonde hair in pink flower top next to your new friend Crusin Kris

Yes, I remember you! So many times I was holding one of the last few dollars in the game, but never could win. People wanted to sit by me because they knew that I would be giving the winning dollar away! :D

Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to post any of your thoughts and observations as this review progresses.

Jeff can correct me but I think there were 143 diamond on our cruise. It was rare to see a blue or red card.

There were 153 I think. I knew that it was over 150. You could tell that there were a lot of veteran cruisers on this ship, because on the couple of days that we had rough seas everyone was out and about in full force! :D

I'm loving your review, Jamman. I did the Baltimore-to-Tampa repositioning on the Pride in January, so I'm enjoying reliving it in reverse (kind of, at least)! :D

Thanks for reading! You guys had an awesome itinerary as well! :)

One of these days I hope we will be on the same cruise. Thought about you guys while making my trip up to Atlantic City in January. Of course had to stop at Maryland House on the way up and on the way home. I'm on the Pride again in July for the Bermuda cruise. Can't wait it will be my first time there. It sounds like Ken might be on vacation when I'm on depending on how long of time off he has. He will be missed that's for sure. Just got off Harmony and did the same thing you did in Cozumel. We had Able and he was wonderful also. It's a nice ship but can't wait to get back to my Carnival where the crew seem happy and know how to have fun.

Thanks for following along once again! The Pride to Bermuda should be an awesome cruise. I know that Ken will be back on the Pride sometime in July, just don't know the date, Hope he is back for your cruise. :)

We're on the July Bermuda cruise as well. I love sailing with Ken - hope he's back, but I'm figuring that with two evenings when the MDR likely will be less crowded since we're in port, this may be a vacation week for Ken.

Hi Jeff,

It was great meeting you and Patti at the Bay Harbor Hotel. I really liked the hotel especially the restaurant. The food was really good and the staff was friendly.

My group of 8 loved this cruise in fact we think it was one of the best we have ever been on. We went to Paradise Beach in Cozumel, in Costa Rica didn't plan anything but hired a cab driver who took us on a great tour. He stopped at several places to let us taste fruit, chocolate, corn on the cob, he showed us the different flowers and plants and took us to an area to see the monkeys and sloths in the trees. We also went on a boat ride through the rain forest. The Panama Canal was amazing. In Aruba we went to Moomba Beach, Bonaire we went to a resort with a pool& beach with great snorkeling. In St. Maarten we went to a restaurant we fell in love with when we stayed there 2 years ago.

Really enjoying your review & Patti's pictures.

Thanks,

Michel (Ms. Fun Bunch)

Jamman I love you I want to be you. I want to post as good a picture review as you when I leave the Ecstasy on 9/15 and the Pride on 11/19. I always wondered what I would do when I grow up. Now that I'm 61 and about to retire in two months, right after my 62nd birthday, I finally know. I want to cruise and be a cruise critic blogger. I will learn from the masters. Seriously, I'm loving this. More please. Have you done an Ecstasy review?

Jamman54 your reviews are special to read. I feel that I know you and patti. I noticed that you had a anchor backpack, do you know where you picked it up?

Thanks for following along once again. Patti got that backpack at Kohl's. It is a JanSport backpack. Also available at ebags dot com, It's called the red tape / land ahoy.

Thanks for reading and your kind words! I've only been doing these picture reviews since 2013. I have been on Ecstasy but have not done a review. Congrats on your upcoming retirement! :)

Patti didn’t want any breakfast today, so I decided to make my way to the Blue Iguana Cantina for a breakfast burrito. Heading outside it was still raining, and the Lido Deck was slick and wet…..

Jeff,

I forgot to tell you I did really well in the casino this cruise. I only play the slots but I won two hand pay jackpots and had several hits for $200 - $600 so this time I came home with money:D

All Carnival tours were meeting in the Taj Mahal at 11am. The tours would leave the ship first, and then everyone else could debark. They called each tour one at a time to line up to debark, but since the ship didn’t get cleared until 11:25am, the line became insanely long. Here we are in the Taj Mahal before our tour was called…..

IMG_1359-X2.jpg

We are doing the “All about Limon” tour today.

EXCURSION DETAILS

The province of Limon is prized for its vibrant culture and stunning scenery. Join us as we explore the region and learn about its history and people. Travel in air-conditioned comfort for a drive around Limon and its city that still retains its old roots. Next, visit a private reserve and enjoy a walk through the forest via a network of low-rise cemented walkways. Keep an eye out (and camera ready) for animals like monkeys and other wildlife. Continue to the private pier and board an open-air boat for a cruise along the calm Tortuguero Canals “Costa Rica’s Amazon”. With over 2400 species of flora and a wide array of wildlife, the area will astound you with its biodiversity. Refresh with a delicious fruit buffet and natural refreshments while local music is played; browse for a memento of your eco-day in Limón, then re-board your transportation and head back to the ship via a scenic coastal road.

NOTES

  • Some walking is required along flat surfaces, bring along a hat, sun protection, insect repellent, soft walking shoes and a camera.
  • Rain gear is recommended.
  • Wildlife sightings while common, they can not be guaranteed

· $69.99 / Adult ,$59.99 / Child

Once our tour was called it took a good half hour to get off the ship, but here we are…..

IMG_1361.jpg

As we were led to our tour bus we passed a couple of guys playing the xylophone on the pier…….

IMG_1362-X2.jpg

Here’s the stern of the Carnival Pride……..

IMG_1365-X2.jpg

Once on the bus our tour guide Jose told us not to worry, because even though we were getting a late start, we would be getting the full tour. Here’s a view of the Carnival Pride as we leave the terminal area…..

The tour starts in the city of Limon itself. Jose tells us about all the points of interest. Here is an open market…..

IMG_1379-X2.jpg

A typical city street……

IMG_1381-X2.jpg

There is barbed wire everywhere. Jose explains that the people use it to protect their possessions, not themselves, and that the city is perfectly safe. Really?

IMG_1382-X2.jpg

Here is the largest Cathedral in Limon, along with the Rectory…..

IMG_1389-X2.jpg

IMG_1385-X2.jpg

As with any busy city there is a lot of traffic. Our tour through the city took a long time because of the traffic…..

Great Review - Sailing on the Pride next Sunday. Sailed her back in 2012 before the upgrade. Can't wait to enjoy all of the 2.0 additions and for that first pint of Thirsty Frog Red !

Thanks for reading! Enjoy your cruise on the Pride. Have a TFR for me, and tell Winston at the Red Frog Rum Bar that Jeff says hello! :)

We are now traveling along the coastline on our way to a banana plantation…..

IMG_1405-X2.jpg

Along the way, we stop at a roadside stand where Jose gets off…..

IMG_1407-X2.jpg

Jose comes back on the bus with a stalk of “baby” bananas…..

IMG_1411-X2.jpg

They really are small……..

IMG_1412-X2.jpg

I think that I could eat about 20 of them!

IMG_1413-X2.jpg

Jose shows us a cacao pod. This is what they make chocolate out of…..
